tack!
Tack på förhand!
Thanks!
Also, can you shed some light on what will happen with the gopro-belly-footage from the show?
Thank you for the grind.
Anders, I just went to the previously asked questions like I do at some times. I became more than annoyed when I read was this user named Olive wrote, meaning you would try to make money out of Nasum and its destiny. I have seen you on one of the last shows of Nasum in 2004 and two times on the farewell dates. This were some of the best times in my life. You know, I love to see people playing great music with a big message like you do. And I know your attitude, its my attitude. This is what I enjoy so much.
So what I want to say is that Nasum is definitly NOT about to make money. I can totally understand your decision when it comes to the farewell tour and everything else. This has definitly not been a tour to raise profit, this has been a tour to give the spirit of Nasum some last great times. And the same counts for Grind Finale, the compilation and everything else which happened after 2004. Anders, I, and I think 99,99% of the people know that. So fuck this dude.
Thanks so much, Anders!
And heres one last question: Do you have leftover Merch from the Farewell tour which you will put online? Unfortunatly I did not have enough money with me at the Tivoli show to buy a baseball shirt.
What time (of course, I'm speaking "around" what time) is the show in London expected to end? Just wanted to make sure I can get back to the hostel with the underground.
Pete
Also, Cheers for adding me to the Tattoo blog! :)
I'll send an EPS version of it to the nasum@nasum e-mail. Also, I might try to do a full typeface (font), hope you wouldn't mind?
And one more thing, if you want a vector of this, just tell me where to send it. ;) It is a Cyrillic Nasum logo that I've made.
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/5165/nasumlogocyrillicwhite.png
Thanks for the logo. I actually have made something similar myself when some possible Russian shows were under discussion. But you version was better! / Anders
See you in London.
And a side question, can you tell me the average price for most of the tees, 'cause I'm a broke student who's not even living in London, and I really don't wanna bring a lot of money to the venue; just what I'd spent for the night.
would it be possible for you to let us have the back side of the Inhale/Exhale CD as high-res? You know, the gasmask people and the Gondol. I made a real sexy wallpaper back in '99 but I have lost it and my original CD is in my old country still... Thanks in advance!
Mosh it up and grind the world.
thank you
again, thank you so much!!!! thanks for that years of great releases thanks for your great lyrics and and least thanks again for your show. you crushed me serously.. :)
I've sent you some pics I took at the Graspop gig.
I really enjoyed your show, although you think it wasn't the best one..
Take care!
grind your mind \m/
Thanks
Above are photos from the Nasum show in Oakland! Enjoy!!!
Please eat it.
Thx for comeback
LOCAL module(account my58075@tele2.se) reports:
account is full (quota exceeded) >>> i got this returned when send a mail to you guys :(
I would like to know who is/was vegan or vegetarian in the band.
I wonder this because of some of your lyrics.
Cheers from France !
it is hard to find very good stuff!!
many greetings and thanks thierry
If there is anyway you could help, my email address is Craigm@volumecity.com
Thanks again.
almost 2 years ago i asked you about the vinyl reissue of human 2.0 and you said ''There's a vinyl reissue of "Human 2.0" coming up soon, so don't give up the hope... / Anders'' any news on that?
I really love the nasum guitar tunes...
Greetings from germany
Are there any news about Krigshot? Do you rehearse somtimes, or just talk about new stuff? Or is Krigshot dead?
An intimate question. I understand, if you don't answer it.
Is Mieszko's girlfriend ok? I mean, she survived the tsunami, but did she recover well? I'm just curious.
Best regards,
Toto
I would like to ask you Anders, what type of china and ride you use on the album inhale/exhale? mainly that china sounds as a cymbal I was always looking for.
thanks for reply
best wishes :)
Also note - as I always says when it comes to questions about particular sounds - that the cymbal has been recorded through a microphone, and processed in several ways until it ended up on the record, so it's slightly difficult to judge a cymbal by how it sounds on a record... / Anders
Look at this, those filthy snatchers stole your name!
Are they allowed to use your name?
Another questions: Did you think of releasing a last bunch of Nasum merch? I think there is big public demand!
Cheers!
About merch... Perhaps... / Anders
1)You ever played the song "Ros"live?I search from the video in this site and all in Youtube but nothing,i'd like to listen it also in low quality.
2)There is a remote possibility in the future to review you and the other ex-members together, with you under voice, even for once, for one last concert? would be great..
3)In an interview, you say that after Grind Finale"There’s nothing more to release (although a picture disc release of “Shift” would be great to complete the collection, but I don’t think that will happen)",exactly what you're talking about?what is this possible picture disc?
4)There is something material from "shift" that you can still publish(in another interview you talk about some unfinished song from shift session)will never come out completed?
5)I know that the name"Nasum"is take from a film, and from a a temporary name become final. What were other possible names(if
you had thought,at that time).
2. My voice is not fit for any live shows...
3. The three first albums were released as picture discs shortly after the demise of the band, and "Shift" was still such a "new" album that a picture disc would interfere with the sales of the normal vinyl edition. It was always a dream to have the albums complete on picture discs, but there are currently no plans to release "Shift" in that format.
4. There might be some unfinished and/or lost songs from many of the recordings, but everything that can and will be published is on the albums and "Grind Finale".
5. Wow, I don't recall any other possible band names. I think it always was Nasum. / Anders
I noticed that the Coldworker site has been down for quite a long time: what's up?
Thanx for reply.
Its been a long time since I've last said anything on here.
I always had stated that I would get something "Nasum" related tattooed on my body, and a few days ago it came true.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/firesparkz01/76981_471884757299_512877299_5428689_8192275_n.jpg
Ive said it before, and will say it again that Nasum changed my life after hearing such excellent music. To show my appreciation and love for the music you & Mieszko were able to create in such short time, I figured this would show it. Shift seemed to grow on me a lot more recently over the millions of times I've listened to it, and those symbols, I felt were meaningful and interesting. There you have it, I don't know how to sum up the rest.. other than I fucking love Nasum, and always will!
What do you think of it? :)
Cheers.
I've been ruminating over this for some time..
But are there any meanings attached to the four symbols which make an appearance on the cover of 'Shift'?
With the exception of the symbol for recycling..
Take care!
Scott
Cape Town, South Africa.
Thanks and best regards, Ulrich.
Do you have all the guitar tabs from Nasum ? I was searching for Shift tabs, especially for WRATH, and I can't find anything on web...
Thanks & Cheers
Thanks for any answers as I know it was awhile go for these shows

Its been quite sometime since I've approached you with my latest question, but the new Nasum t-shirt, "Terror", had brought something to my attention.
After a discussion with a friend of mine, he mentioned that the use of the "sun symbol" on the t-shirt has a strong tie with Nazism and white-power ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_cross ).
I'm sure this was meant to mock its previous history, but I was wondering what your thoughts were behind it, and if you were involved in the design at all?
do you remember which mesa pre-amp you used for helvete?
Anders
could you place in the discography section, information about the pressing number of each nasum vinyl?i lately bought few of nasum's eps and was just wondering how many are made
2 questions(if you have the time):
1) did mieszko take any courses on enigneering? or was it an intrest or something he picked up during recording sessions?
2) is it absolutley neccesary to take classes to be an engineer? i have little exp. in recording live instruments, but moderate in mixing/producing and trying to master hip hop and electronic stuff(basically using programs w/ plugins, mixing boards for certain channels, local studios for vocal tracks etc.)
i have full confidence in reaching my goal of recording/mixing other artists (esp grind/death), as well as future projects of my own..long story short im trying to get the ball rolling as soon as possible and what better to ask than one of the groups that inspired me the most(meisko's mixing techniques for his vocals in helvete are superb). after searching around the q&a, i couldn't find an answer to any of em...
2. I think that it won't hurt to learn the basics through a course of some sort. Again, it's a matter of talent. I got neither any skills nor talent for sound engineering so it's just some pointless trial and error that's going on when I try to mix and shape the sound. Recording is easy, editing is easy, but mixing is something else. / Anders
I like to download the Live Video suff but the links dont work
Please you can upload the stuff to
THX
Is there gonna be any Nasum shirts in stock in the future?..
The shock of this year for myself was when my band (Venocide) was announced that we made it onto the Nasum tribute. We did "Disforest" in such a fast effort in my living room with cheap mics, I really wish we had the recording equipment we have now compared to back then. But anyways, have you gotten your hands and gave the CD a listen yet? Power It Up stated they released it in November, but I haven't heard much news on the tracks..
I mean your vocals were also very special to a lot of people. When I think back to Inhale/Exhale... This was fucking brutal. They were truly intensive and kinda independent. Argh, I am looking for the right word which should replace "independent". Brainfuck. But I think you know what I mean.
Cheers!
Doing more vocals will never happen though. I was just lucky that I managed to record a few decent lines here and there as I lack any sort of technique for singing. / Anders
i gotta a question about genocide ss do you know where i can get their lyrics, i've got 3 cd's of them but they only include some of the song's lyrics...i was bidding lately human 2.0 on vinyl it went up to 80 dolars fuck i wish i was born earlier i so i could buy it in normal pirices hehe all the best
There's a vinyl reissue of "Human 2.0" coming up soon, so don't give up the hope... / Anders
maybe we shouldtry the masked face or A Welcome Breeze Of Stinking Air or sixteen.
anyway to many cool songs haha
cheers
some day i will be doing a tribute for you guys and in memory of mieszko! i hope seeing you any time soon in south america.. you`re awesome! and the message that you give and every lyric is a great influence to me.
do we need any kind of legal permission from you or relapse?
thanks
But - I would advise you to pick another song. "Time to act" is easily the most covered Nasum song out there. I don't know how many version I've heard... / Anders
P.S. Not sure that no one asked this before, but thank you for spending time on reading this, anyway.
I was just looking through the questions here... In the answer on December 1, 2008 you wrote: "One day I will try to have all the Swedish lyrics translated on nasum.com."
So, how is it going? Do you still plan to do this? I mean, more that half a year has passed, do you still remember of this intension? :) This would be great, I think.
One of my favourite songs is "Hets" from "Shift", the lyrics are not in English, so could you, please write in a couple of words what it is about?
Q: Are there any english translations of your swedish songs like "Hets"?
A: Not really, but here is a "quick and dirty" translation, without any poetic ambitions...
What the fuck happened to your life and dreams?
A struggle for something unreachable and slippery
Your skin is whipped, it's beaten so it hurts
All this fucking stress drowns your life in black
What? Are you supposed to lie down and die?
Burnt out, wasted and totally run down
- Throw out the corpse, waste the shit!
Is this the thanks you will get?
Wear and waste, wear and waste - bring on the next slave
- You have to produce, concentrate, feel no guilt
You feel their eyes, you always feel the preasure
And your motivation is golden watch
Consumed by time, a slave under the stress
What? Are you supposed to lie down and die?
Burnt out, wasted and totally run down
- Throw out the corpse, waste the shit!
Is this the thanks you will get?
Wear and waste, wear and waste - bring on the next slave
What happened to your life? - Burnt out!
What happened to your life? - Run down!
The stress took over your life!
"Hets" doesn't really mean stress. I have never really found a good English word for it. It's like a mix of haste and stress. / Anders
From the years I've been listening to Nasum over and over again, "Shift" seems to give me some incredible feeling of nostalgia due to the very melodic parts in the songs. I was wondering what influenced you and the boys from Nasum to lean towards a more melodic side (Mostly the endings of "Closer to the End", "Darkness Falls", and parts of "Ros"), and who made the decision to head down that path?
I read a review online, where someone said that you guys were stealing from "At the Gates", which I thought was complete bullshit. It's really Nasum's own unique sound, and take on it.
As for the examples you mention - the ending of "Closer to the End" is heavily inspired by Isis and I remember Jon laughing as he said that none of his other bands would let him getting away with such an obviously stolen part. "Darkness Falls" was the last song on the album and demanded a definitive finale (it's the same on all the last songs on the albums), and it's also a sort of sentimental and sad song so the melody was obvious. "Ros" has the same kind of melodic qualities as many other songs by Mieszko, as the mentioned "Shadows" and "Fury".
At The Gates was a source of inspiration as any other Swedish metal band, but perhaps not as obvious in our sound as for example Entombed. The only thing I can certainly say is stolen from them is the break and the word "Go!" in "Sixteen" on "Human 2.0"... / Anders
figuring this year will be the fifth year since Mieszko's pass-away, I was wondering how you will memorize him? I mean, he will always be on your mind, but I was thinking of arranging a show here in Belgium in honour of him. I never personally knew him, which then again makes it a little bit ridiculous.
Because the lyrics are very genuine, honest and heartfelt. I love them. I am also posting some of them on friends' forum to share.
All the best. \m/
yu (again)
ps: I am looking forward to buy Coldworker's LPs but it seems a little bit complicated.
By the way! What is it about with this nasum-tribute thing?
We (distaste - grind from aut) would like to perform "fury", cause i (still) think it´s the best grind-song ever.
Do you know, whom we should contact, or what we should do?
Thanks anyway,
armin
More info at power-it-up.de. / Anders
I love Nasum.
yu
1-Have you ever been to Italy?
2-Will you be there with Coldworker in some festival?
3-What kind of music do you like, except grindcore?
2. Perhaps in the future, but not this year.
3. I like a lot of music, most kinds of metal, most kinds of alternative music and some commersial.
This was question #1000 - congratulations! / Anders
i have a question, why was the shape of the "black swarm" t-shirt such a fkkng mess? i still refer to badly shaped shirts as nasum-shirts.
grind on!
is there any chance you'll print some of the "recycle" shirts ever again?
did Nasum play in poland or had an opportunity to play?maybe you have plans to visit poland with coldworker?:)cheers
I was checking out some Nasum gigs on youtube and I came across the one at "Groene Engel" in Oss. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-floYO0VkM).
Your snare drum has one HELL of a bang to it. I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of snare model that was? It sounds tight as hell, and extremely pulverizing. I love it!
Cool clip, I haven't seen it before. Completely out of sync though... / Anders
Do you know something about the Grind finale LP set repress? Are there any clear vinyls pressed?
Another...
Are there any black vinyls pressed from the Doombringer LP?
Mannnnny Thanxxxxx!
do we need permission from you or from your label for any legal etc issues?
thank you
is it hard to get the swedish occupation?
anyway nasum was one of the best grindcore bands in the world
hail.
I just want to ask that will the videos from the download section be downloadable again?
Did you heard something about the Nasum Napalm Death split?
Thank you!
The split is coming... some day. / Anders
Anders
What do you think about the new Nasum shirt on Relapse, "The Engine of Death"?
It's about time a "Shift" based shirt was released.. It's got quite the interesting look to it.
Were you involved with the design/make at all?
What was one of the funnest and most memorable shows you ever played with Nasum? There were obviously a ton of venues you played at, but I was wondering which one you had the most fun with out of them all and why?
Do you happen to know what bass Jesper used live in the Hultsfred Festival video? Mainly Ive seen him use it in the Human 2.0 era. It was 5 string and black.
Cheers if you have any info.
Andrew.
Through all the Nasum albums, I was wondering which one held your favorite snare drum sound? Are you very picky on having the perfect snare sound? Did you use different snares through out each album? I thought the production from each record would change the sound of it. Overall, I really loved it on "Helvete", it had such a bang on clang sound to it.
P.S - Any more info on the Nasum Tribute CD? I'm dying to hear other bands try to cover already amazing masterpieces.
I can remember what snares we used. Soundlab had one of two that was primary used because they were better than mine. I don't think I've used my own snare on any (real) recording.
Can't say which album has the best snare right now, and no new info about the comp. / Anders
i have a esp/ltd viper fm 100 guitar
and i wanna use heavy strings on it
so i can get that crust grind sound you guys have
but im not sure if my guitar could hack it
and not fuck it up
have you got any idea if it would work
thanks man
p.s
i fucking love nasum
to bad you guys arnt around anymore
but im loving the other projects you all do
I know enough Swedish to know the meaning of "skit" in Swedish... Was Urban's last name made fun with or is it pronounced completely differently?
Also, I got the Grind Finale as a present from my brothers girlfriend who had it lying around (it actually was a gift from her ex boyfriend) yesterday. I saw that the booklet was layed in upside down. Is this normal?
Thanks! Happy Christmas for all of those who come looking here, or something.
No, the booklet isn't supposed to be upside down so you got an unique and - would I imagine - annoying copy. / Anders
Did you come for the World Social Forum?
I heard something about.
If yes, has some way to bring merch?
sorry for propably english mistakes!
Cheers
but
what is every tuning for each string
for the songs you did it for
its confuseing haha
sorry mate
i was also woundeirng what guitar equipment you used and stuff
because im working on some crust grind stuff right now
and yeah just checking what sorta equipment you used
cheers dude
hope all is well
i was woundering what tuning for the guitars you use
:D
cheers
can you tell me what mieszko is saying on doombringer when indroducing the song "just another hog"?
i love this part so much. its actually my ringtone for the cellphone. hehe. it's the coolest introduction to a grindsong performed live ever in my opinion!
From your memory what guitar pedals or effects did the band use when playing live?
Are you fimiliar with synesthesia? It's a mental disorder where people can see sound, or smell colors, etc. You have different forms, but I noticed you might have the visual-sound form when I read with the detailed description of the cover of Helvete: "We wanted to have the cover look like the guitar sound". I also have that form of synesthesia, and it makes your music slightly more interesting to me, because your album covers always match the colour of the sound, and even the form sometimes.
BTW: Tilsammans was on yesterday, that was one freaky ass movie, man.
Is "freaky ass" positive or negative? To me it's one of the greatest Swedish movies of all time. / Anders
After the tragedy,When i bought Grind Finale i feel very happy to have another songs from Nasum, particulary the outtakes of helvete and shift(the best album ever for me),
about this, inside "Finale"i read that there were three songs never got finished, also in one interview just you say that, before the desaster in Thayland,
there were some ideas in project for the sequel of "Shift"album before meeting in studio in january 2005...
so my question is:the six songs that we could download called"rehearsal demo by Ex-Nasum"are the result of this project, you completed the unfinished song of shift,
or there are not correlated?
and, another question:are there any english translation of"Ros"song that is song i prefer?
Thanks of all(i knew my English is very, very Shit!!)sorry..
No translation is available. One day I will try to have all the Swedish lyrics translated on nasum.com. / Anders
This is probably a irritating question but do you happen to know what John or the older bassists tuned too?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure why I haven't asked this before.. but what was it like shooting a music video for "Wrath"?
How long did it take for the actual video to be made?
How fun was it?
The most fun part was when the extras came in the coveralls and gasmasks. It was a bit strange to play with a haunting person standing next to me... / Anders
Anders

Anders
Cheers
I had a few questions on some music around the Swedish Scene..
1. On a previous question of mine, you said you did some rehearsal things with Regurgitate, and on some Youtube videos, I saw you on drums for one of their shows... How was that for you? Do you sometimes jam with them from time to time to get used to the songs?
2. What do you think of Retaliation? I know they were on the "Grindwork" split with you guys.. I thought some of their stuff sounded quite in the vein of Nasum. Did you ever play shows with them?
Have a good day!
My biggest problem with Retaliation is the lack of lyrics, which leads to improvised vocals that pretty much sound the same all of the time that makes it hard for me to distinguish one song from another. Other than that they are cool. We never played with them during the Nasum years, but Coldworker and Retaliation shared a stage a while back. It was a noisy performance for sure... / Anders
Are you planning to continue your blog about grind/death metal drummers? And my second question, Nasum is still considered as one of the greatest death/grind bands up to date. Now we have seen bands like Sayyadina, Gadget, the Arson Project, etc. from the same country as you guys. How do you feel towards the current grind scene? Note that a lot of screamo/emo/metalcore dudes misunderstand the term grindcore...
have you ever filmed a whole nasum gig, if yes, is it possible to release it on dvd one day?
cheers from germany
Are you letting it grow because you are more into metal again through Coldworker?
Looks badass!;)
I was wondering, considering that Mieszko recorded to tape, if the vinyl releases of Nasum's albums sound any different from the digital releases. Admittedly I don't know jack shit about the technicalities of recording etc., so bear with me if this is merely a retarded brainfart of mine...
cheers
Also, only "Inhale/Exhale" was recorded on tape, everything else - from that point - was digital. / Anders
As for crust/d-beat - it can't possible be more crust/d-beat than Krigshot... / Anders
Any Necrony shirts available? I'd pay ridiculous money for a Severe Malignant Pustule, print.
thanks
He liked to keep his songs a little bit more open for adjustments during the rehearsal whereas I were more "finished" with my songs when I showed them. Of course there were exceptions but they were few.
I don't think there's a single track credited to the both of us, when it comes to the music. We wrote lyrics for each other every now and then, but basically it was 100% individual song writing. / Anders
Cheers!

What happened to the tracks that didn't make it to "Shift"?
I recently got the Regurgitate/Skullhog split, the one recorded back in 2006... I noticed on the back, that it said "Recording done by Anders Jakobson".
Was that just a one time thing, or have you been experimenting with recording for other bands?
Hm... to be perfectly honest there is a rehearsal thingy with Regurgitate where I play the drums also, but that's it.
I would love to record other bands, but I haven't got the time or skills to do it. Yet. / Anders
In the track by track pages, you comment that you never knew why Mieszko decided to call Sixteen that way, and that you'll never find out. I recently recalled that I heard the song "Sixteen Tons" a couple of weeks ago on the radio while driving home from a friend's house. I understand it's about the misery of coal mining, and it's a pretty old song, but I guess you could interpret it differently than it's originally intended to be. Is there a possibility that's why the song's called Sixteen, or do you think that Mieszko just thought it sounded cool (with all due respect)?
Cheers
would there ever by a rerelease of Nasum LPs?cheers
did you triggered the snare?
did you have the chance to "live" from Nasum? And second, did Relapse or any label srew you over or ripped you off?
I was suprised at the coldworker tuning as it sounds very heavy.
Same as Coldworker?
I forgot about it. How was the title of the grind finale project first meant to be?
Thanks!

"Hets" doesn't really mean stress. I have never really found a good English word for it. It's like a mix of haste and stress. / Anders
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9hC8Y0OkAE
i found it very entertaining; it has one of Nasum's songs "Hail the Chaos" in it.
Cheers from Canada!
Is that true?
I thought that will be very weird for you!?
Didn't I read that you can't imagine to cover a Nasum Song with Coldworker when somebody asked you that?
Best,
Josh
We're going to play one of my old songs from the early years, before Mieszko started to sing (and before I started to play the drums in Nasum), so comparisons with the latter Nasum sound should be obsolete. / Anders
A few questions I had were 1) How was working with Unrest records I have heard some up and down things about that guy...drunk,drug dealer etc...2.why did you choose not to work with Unrest for any other vinyl releases? 3)what's up with the split with Napalm?
2. I didn't know about Unrest earlier and all the albums etc was already covered by other labels.
3. Not much, but one of these days... / Anders
After buying "Rotting Paradise", I read in the back of the CD sheet that you use DB Drumshoes.. I was wondering what is the difference in using them, and how are those working for you? Did you ever use them in Nasum?
I will see them at Wacken. Can't wait for that...
:) / Anders
They will cover Doombringer.
Do you remember them? They were doing one of the last shows with you in October 2004.
Mvh Johan
Do you know what Mieszko was saying during the beginning of "Just Another Hog" on "Doombringer"..?
I couldn't quite catch it, but was he saying the movie quote from the intro to that song?
Thanks.
Anders is the fastest merch sender I ever did buisness with!
No the question for you:
Anders, do you believe in afterlive? Do you have any belief in higher "spirits" apart from religious things which I know you don't support!?
I think religion is the worst thing mankind ever created. Just a reason and an argument for war and the included killing of innocent people. But I still believe there is something after dead. Do you agree with my opinion?
But if you want to be on the safe side, become a mormon! (South Park reference) / Anders
Any chance the new Coldworker merch will appear on Relapse.com?
It seems easier for me to order it from there.. and shorter waiting time..
But if not, I'll just end up making an order very soon for the zip up hood. =)
Hahaha, laughed pretty hard at your answer to the comment below.
But on to the question..
Is there a band that still plays today that YOU think carries on the sound of Nasum? I can't really find any bands that will ever be like the exact sound, but yeah.. do you feel there is any other musicians setting Nasum standards?
i want to know because im gonna buy one same kind:)
hare
Sorry about these questions, but I really need your help! Do you know something about the Inhale/Exhale LP +"7 pressing? It was only one press by Distortion or was there a second press?
If I know right than it was released on yellow "12 and "7 vinyls. Did you hear about another pressing on black vinyls?
Just because I have found one on eBay on black. So I just want to know if it's fake.
Thanxxxx for your help!
Har du hört Totalt Jävla Mörker? Om ja, vad tycker du om dom?
MVH Tom W.
I dont know if this has been asked before but is there a meaning for the gasmasks in the musicvideo and picutres e.c.t...?
Are you a fan of prog-rock (e.g. Pink Floyd) and
have you ever listened to Tom Waits?
Did you ever try to do vocals live out of all the years of Nasum?
Something like Flo from Cryptopsy does, having the mic set up with the drum set..
Or was it too complicated..?
I´m just intrested in what rigg Jon is using for the bass? It´s a realy sweet sound...!
Do you remember why he didn't speak in Mülheim?
Was he just croaky or did he want to preserve his voice? I'm just interested because I remember me being wondering why he didn't speak. i just thought he is a quiet guy with the loudest voice when it comes into screaming.;)
I finally bought Doombringer. I love the roughness. You have done another great job!
Now heres my question: I've seen you guys live in Mülheim in 2004. I remember Mieszko being very quiet while not singing and that Jon did most (if not all) of the talking on stage. does mieszko speak on doombringer? if yes where?
thanks!
Josh
En annan fråga: Vet du hur många ex "blind world" gavs ut i? Mvh Johan
Has any band or person influenced you on your drumming when you started and now?
I can say, You, Brian Harvey, or Kai Hahto are some main influences for me to pick up the sticks and begin blasting away, so I was just wondering if any bands you liked growing up made how you play today?
I was just wandering, did you stop doing vocals on albums after Human 2.0 or did you do them on Shift and Helvete as well?
PS: tell Jon that next time he visits Belgium, he should bring some Sayyadina merch to a dude with a bandanna.
Cheers.
Anders, is this a bootleg one or did you print the napalm design on other shirts than on green and white ones?
thank you!
Unfortunatly there were not many people around.
But they seemed to have fun. After the show they got a 5 or 6 litre glass of beer and I saw Urban posing with it.
No question, I know. But I want the people to share this funny good evening!
Best,
Josh
Did you get some new drum cymbals?
I thought I noticed some different ones in one of your new Coldworker rehearsal videos I stumbled upon on Youtube..
If so, which ones and how are they treating you? =)
I was wondering what kind of sticks you use when you are drumming?
I almost found that lighter sticks were easier to grip and enable faster speeds.. but they break incredibly easy.
Do you find any difference between the lightness/thickness?
I need a certain weight in my sticks to be able to play at all, lighter sticks don't work at all for me. / Anders
This is no joke right?
Did those asses destroy the site? Or did they change things so that you had to delete everything?
I'm sorry for you!
Tack.
Hur går det med Napalm Death spliten??
Hittar ingen info om den någonstans!?
instead of a nice guitar head?
they are noisy and when you recorded helvete with messa boogie you had the best result!:)
During the beginning process, the start of Nasum, and even in the later era,
I was wondering what your means of funding Nasum were?
Obviously you had some help from the fellow members,
but.. Did you have a side-job, or endorsements?
I always had an interest in how someone starts up a band, and how it's paid for..
Are there any places where I can buy Grind Finale anymore or do I have to start looking from the 2nd hand cd-shops?
Anders
I noticed the Krigshot "Orebro-mangel" t-shirt is gone. Will it ever come back?
I was wondering what songs you play for a warm up when practicing with Coldworker, or just by yourself?
Obviously, you'd play your own stuff, but do you cover any other songs just for the hell of it?
the last message confuse me..what do you think about Relapse merch??they still sell the shirt.a silly question I know !
maybe the guy should buy a doombringer pre-order package with a shirt^^!!
..and some bootlegs are cool.don't forget the Napalm Death "Bootleg In Japan" :-D
people should buy bootlegs, but don't buy bullshit!!!
cheers my friends
And "Bootlegged in Japan" was an official release, despite the name... / Anders
Nasum Fanatiker
I had asked this question awhile ago, I think like 8 months ago or something, but I kind of left out the overall, main question I meant to ask.
I've seen so many grindcore band videos, and I noticed all the drummers will be doing the blast on the snare with their left hand, while they hit the hi-hat and symbols with the right hand. I noticed you do that, too.
You, being a drummer for so long, I wanted to know if that was the actual correct way of doing it? Or is it just a righty/lefty kind of ordeal? I find myself, when I'm drumming, to be doing the snare blasts with my right hand.. opposite of what I see in the grind videos.
In my opinion the "blast with the right hand on the snare" is a completely different beat, as played by Cannibal Corpse for example.
But any way you slice it is good I guess. There are no correct ways to do anything anymore. So if it works and sounds good, then just do it. / Anders
Hail Nasum
I was reading in some of the archives about how you would edit/polish songs and such..
Let alone, lots of Grind Finale was edited with.
Did you take any lessons on working with music editing,
or did it come along naturally from playing around with music programs and what not?
What did you do to improve the quality of the recording?
Thanks for this, Anders!
When I heard the news about the new CD,
I think I woke my parents up from screaming.
I was wondering if the album is mastered and all the like?
Or is it just a live recording with stage mics and such?
Feels nice to have a piece of Nasum be released when I'm a huge fan,
seeings how I was In grade 8 when Shift was released, and I had no clue what "grindcore" was!
What is Doombringer? I am confused because I read about that release on relapse.com
And normally we receive news at first from you...
Long live Nasum.
// Nasum Fanatiker
I can say that 2007, has been the year of Nasum for me.
There has been no other band in the world that I have spent as much time listening to, or learning about, ever.
I thank you.. and Mieszko, for all the time spent into Nasum, as it has inspired me beyond belief into music, and becoming more creative.
Cheers, and Happy Holidays to you!
It's been awhile since I've pondered my latest question about Nasum..
until at school yesterday my friends kept asking me about something.
I bought the Nasum zip-up hoodie off Relapse back in August,
and usually from time to time people would always ask me "Why is the N in Nasum, always around a recycling sign"?
I didn't really have an answer, but I tried to explain the political lyric structure you guys would do..
And then I wondered what was the recycling logo all about..?
Did it have a meaning behind it for you to use?
Thanks,
and I'm incredibly excited to hear the upcoming Coldworker album (Finally bought The Contaminated Void a few weeks ago at a record shop) =D.
But basically it's just graphics. / Anders
is this you sitting on the bed, anders?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02o4UC-C548
Bara i Finspång... / Anders
cymbals sounds like midi to me..
Anders
How's stuuf going?
Remembered how I asked that question about that quote from Tillsammans (probably not, haha)? I tried to find it in Swedish but I can't find it anywhere! Could you be so friendly to type it here? Sorry, but I don't know anyone from Sweden, and it's a pretty cool sentence, haha!
Thanks anyways!
Cheers!
is there any differnece between the nasum logo shirt you are selling and the logo shirt relapse is selling?
thanks
I´d like to buy Grind Finale - but is there any difference between those two listed versions on amazon?
I mean - is it possible that one version is the digipack version with the booklet and one not?
please help!
Since I live in Canada and all..
I was just wondering what kind of music makes it on the radio in Sweden..?
Are bands like 'Katatonia' and such getting a lot of airplay?
Their new music seems like it would be the kind to get played on the radio from where they originate..
Regurgitatefrågor får du ta med Regurgitate. / Anders
Nu har du redan sagt för mycket. ;)
"This is..." som både första och sista låt kanske?
Anders
but yeah, random question that don't think has come up, i apologize if it has but i was just curious... on the helvete song violation, the lyrics are as you mentioned about animals. just wondered from reading them if you (i say you as you wrote the lyrics as apposed the whole band) are vegetarian/vegan/or just plain against animal abuse etc. of course i could be reading to much into things but had to ask as I'm a vegetarian myself and nasum is among my altime favorite bands.
thanks for your time
hope i catch the next coldworker show in london, bloody missed the last one!
I always wondered what the sample that starts out at Just Another Hog meant. I always had an obsession with Swedish. It's very cool. (It is Swedish, right?)
Greetz.
Unrest is from Canada. / Anders
if that's ok with you..
then i'll send you an e-mail of the design i did...
I also encountered an Idea like that before..
There is a local T-Shirt making place,
and I was going to get the cover of Helvete or Blind-World.. and post it on the cover,
and choose a lyric from the CD and put it on the back..
So that wouldn't be a copyright issue?
Most of my friends know me for the kid obsessed with Nasum with and always wearing a Nasum shirt, so I figured I'd carry on my tradition.
with my own design..
i'm just askin' so that i won't get sued or anything..
www.deviant.se där finns den.
you being a Swedish and all, I'd like to know what you think of the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ApJFkLsxek
Thanks,
A Fan
i always wanted to know about the swedish nasum lyrics. is there a translated version of those songs?
that's it, keep it up. nasum is in my heart forever and coldworker rules too!
cheers from brazil
does this swedish post "only" mean that they sell Grind Finale 30 % lower?
Thanks,
thank you! hi
I know this is kinda an annoying question that anyone can ask, but is there any chance you or someone else could give me the tabs for Dead Mirror on guitar?
If you're too lazy, I totally understand, I hate writing tabs too haha!
Cheers, and thanks anyways!
Me and my friends came to late and we are always looking for those shirts on ebay but they never appear....
We'd be some that buy them!
Greetings,
I've checked out Nasum a few times on www.metal-archives.com, and it caught my eye that you are still in a band "Route Nine"?
Are you still involved with it in anyway?
I got this information from an old Rock Hard magazine. It was Fenriz's own statement in an interview... Think it was no joke and kinda serious!
I want to believe!;)
It was something I read sometime ago. Thought that this is very interesting. He seems to be a good guy.
It just came back to my mind when I saw you wearing a Darkthrone Shirt on the Coldworker Site...
Greetings,
i am always very interested in the questions people are asking here..
so why were this two outstanding answers not being answered within the last days? I mean there are still 2 unanswered questions left since some days while others have been answered...
strange question i know, but i just want to hear something since nasum.com is the site i am checking almost everyday..;)
cheeeeers!
Since I myself is a very openminded listener and listen to all kinds of music (of course including grindcore and Nasum), it would be interesting to know whether you listen to any music that is not metal/punk/grind?
How are you doing (I don't know you, but it's something I just ask everytime I talk to someone)?
I'd like to ask you a couple of things about the sound you guys produced on 'Shift' and 'Helvete'. I ask this because I'm very interested in recording techniques and sound, and of course music.
The first thing I wanted to ask you was how did you manage to get the raw, roaring sound of the guitars? Effects, pedals, amplifiers, etc...?
The second thing was at the beginning of the songs Fight Terror With Terror, and some other (I can't remember, heh), there is this weird sound generated. I can't describe it, but you'll know what I mean. Were that samples or guitars, or...?
The final thing I wanted to ask is that you used a certain cymbal on some songs. The only thing that pops up in my mind is Living Next Door to Malice. There are some other songs, a whole bunch even. Only the ones on Helvete pops up. Anyways, you used a certain cymbal that made a China-like sound while you blasted. You used that cymbal to mark certain notes on guitar, or that's how it seemed to me. I hope you know what I mean. So the question is, what cymbal was that?
Bye, take care.
Sorry for your loss, as it was one to many.
-Blast Fast, Die Slow
2. Is it the feedback during the drum introduction you are thinking about?
3. That was a China cymbal! / Anders
I finally started to get back into drumming again,
and I wanted to ask if you for a tip or something.
Have you found it easier to play blastbeats open handed or close hand?
P.S - My friend and I are planning to do some type of Nasum Tribute, I was going to choose about 30 songs ranging from any EP, CD, Demo tape or what not you have made. I'll give you a shout when it's complete =).
I would say that I guess I play "closed" by default, but sometimes I try to work of the bounce and if you master that technique I think the blasts can be both solid and hard.
But in the end, any way that works is fine as long as you don't hurt yourself or get tired fast etc. / Anders
I was checking out a few Nasum videos on youtube.com,
and I found one of you guys playing at Hultsfred.
I figured out most of the songs, since the sound was intense, and then a new singer came on-stage for "Think". Was that Rickard?
Jag tänker inte ranka mina kollegor. / Anders
if yes how can we hear?
cheers
Keep it up. / Anders
if yes where can we find it
for the bass guitar you used 1 or 2 channels in the recording studio?
do you like martial arts?
As for the bass guitar I don't quite understand the question, but if you're wondering if we tracked the bass twice that only happened on the "Domedagen" demo. Of course in some parts (like breaks and such) the bass is overdubbed, but mainly it's just one bass track. It's possible Mieszko used a number of mikes tracking the bass on several channels to mix it together, I can't remember. / Anders
I had a few questions I was wanting to ask;
1. Had you ever planned on having the cover for "Helvete" on a T-shirt? I thought it was a really unique looking picture.
2. I have boughten most of the Nasum shirts for sale on Relapse.com, and I must say the new "Wrath" design is fucking WICKED.
Was that a new design Relapse or you created?
2. No, that's the work of Orion at Relapse. I made some suggestions for changes that he incorporated (mainly how the logo was displayed in the design). I'm anxious to see how it looks for real (if you have missed it - here's a link. / Anders
Peace
why you don't use trigger to the bass drum so we can hear it better?
id just like to say that all the things you have done in nasum along with all the others (of course) have had a huge influence on me!
i wondered if you knew how i could find a good grind drummer there seems to be a very big lack of them in the uk!
also im loveing the coldworker stuff its quite sick!
hope to see you guys here soon
cheers
danny
I got my merch-stuff from Sweden to Germany within 3 days. Your "service" is incredibly fast, the shirts and the sweater look great!
I am collecting band-shirts. How many do you have?
What's your favourite one from another band and what's your fave from Nasum?
Tack and greetings,
Josh
http://www.kulturkrockzine.se/display.php?id=45
Ha det fint
Do you listen to any of the bands on th label?
grind finale is the best grind album in the world for me.in the inlay show up one of the flyer nasum play with cryptopsy.what you think about them from musically view?
I'm really not a big fan of Cryptopsy, but there's no discussion that they are talented people. / Anders
We know that Nasum always gave us an apocalyptic and transcending music. But if the music is huge, what is the albums' sound ?!?
So one and just one question : What will happen to Master Mieszko's Soundlab ?
P.S. : Nasum for ever !
but what i was talking about was the part of 'no sign of improvement' at about 20 seconds in.
(sorry if i didnt make that clearer)
ie. what pedals or effects were used
I believe you are going on tour in... a day or 2, so I wasn't sure if this question would make it to you in time,
but were there any songs of Nasum that you had a hard time playing live? Like a more difficult song to play live, rather than in the studio?
Anders
I read through the "Grind Finale" booklet a few times, and I saw that you liked your vocals the best on "Dis Sucks", and they were prety damn good, and to the questions...
1. What other song(s) did you think your vocals shined on?
I thought "This Is.." was pretty good, since you did some brutal growling, with some screaming. =D
2. Which song(s) did you have most fun with your vocals on?
I've made a few grind/death songs, myself, and it sure is fun to grab the mic and just give it hell.
2. Again, I'd like to point out a complete recording rather than some specific tracks, and it that case I think it was the "World in turmoil"/"The black illusions" session as it was the first time I sung for Nasum. The result is so so but it was quite fun to complete the songs with vocals. As a result I lost my voice for a week, as described in the "Grind Finale" booklet. / Anders
I got the Nasum Grind Finale from Mike at Unrest.I asked him some questions about the release and the work for this monster.now I think it´s one of the best produced vinyl editions ever.the cd book was/is amazing, but the vinyl version is a dream!!!
I always read questions about old and rare Nasum stuff.you guys, ask me,maybe I can help you!
this is no commercial,it´s a support for one of the best bands in the world!so no kiddies, only vinyl junkies^^!!
http://www.myspace.com/666ga666
my question:
did you hear something about a Nasum tribute or Nasum cover bands?
I have read that you skated.Do you still have a skateboard or skate stuff?
I don´t think that you skate every day,but maybe you buy some bread at you local baker^^!
cheers ga
2. Yes, I have a beat up old school skateboard in the attic somewhere. It has not touched ground in quite a while... / Anders
Listening to all of the album "Helvete" today,
I was trying to figure out if Shane Embury played on any more tracks other then "Whip" ? If so ... which ones?
Did you ever take any Drum lesson when you began drumming or after a few years into drumming? One more question, Do you have any advise on balance in grinding?
Thanks for Reading
Billy.
Anders
i saw you a the fury fest in france in 2004 , and i met you just after your show on the main stage , just behind the drum kit on stage,me and my band played this year with bunch of fucking ggod bands like you guys !!
this year we play again at the same fest (called hellfest now) and the "souvenir" of your show is still in my head..
this post is just a "tribute" to mieszko and nasum...thank you guys for what you've done !
nasum rules !
Are there other ways to get the split?
Best,
Josh
get it! / Anders
What about the Nasum/Napalm Death split?
...and
Do you know someone who wants to sell a World in turmoil Green vinyl?
Thanx a lot!
R.I.P Miesko
Den andra frågan var dock jävligt dum. / Anders
Anders
I read a previous question and you said Coldworker and Pig Destroyer were going to be doing a split?
In my opinion, that would honestly be one of the best splits ever created. =D
Any news on this topic?
I was wondering what the japanesse writing on the 'grind' t shirt converts to in english? i assume it says grind but im curious.
much respect, your music will inspire me for a lifetime.
Have you heard any of "Job for a Cowboy"? If so, then do you think they are any good? Because here in America their is a massive popularity wave over these guys, but quit frankly I dont see anything so special about them, perhaps its the bands young age that gets everyone so enthused about them. Im not saying there bad im just confused why their so popular:)
R.I.P. Mieszko
Does having someone else in your band with the same name ever get confusing?
Say if someone in Coldworker asked "Anders" to do something, you answer, but they actually directed it to Anders Bertilsson? =D
I know your drumming is more then just speed,
involving technical, groove stuff and what not, which sounds kick ass,
but I was wondering what your fastest song on drums was for Nasum?
I thought "Supernova" was pretty damn lightning fast.
//Kim
just wanted to ask you about one thing that is like a shared concern for all of us. How is your hearing after these years of playing so loud? Ringing or anything, since I haven´t seen any plugs in your ears while playing live. Thanks for everything.
R.i.p. Mieszko, saknaden är stor!
Meaning to ask this before, I forgot about it.
I was wondering why "No Paradise For The Damned" was re-done and put on "Shift" when it was already on "The Black Illusions" like... 8 years difference between the albums.
Is there some meaning behind that song in order for it to be re-recorded?
I just think it's a powerful track, and who's ever desicion to re-do it, was a damn good one.
4. No Paradise for the Damned
- This is the only rerecording of a released track we've done for any of our albums. We didn't plan to record it, it just happened. We had talked about adding this song - originally from the Abstain split - to our liveset but never managed to really pick it out from the badly played and badly recorded original release. But somehow we came to talk about it during the "Shift" session and I went home and pushed myself to finally pick it out. So I did it and we recorded it, but it never made it into the liveset anyway.
---
Apart from that I think the song added a feeling of the old days, a more straight on grindcore song among the more modern songs we wrote. / Anders
Nasum was great and Coldworker kill us all!
Just to say it and confirm that Pigsty is a really good grind band!
Hope see you in France soon!
By the way, what do you think, which Rage is better? Rage or Rage Against the Machine?
Capitalism takes its last sigh
As the fundamental values return.
I was checking through the "Human 2.0" page on the Discography part of the site, and I saw what you had said about it...
"Human 2.0" was partly destroyed in the mastering. "
I noticed that this album had a much more raw sound to it, a really wicked/brutal, crisp quality, but what exactly happened with the mastering..?
If you could tell me, I thank you dearly.
(P.S. - The new drums look awesome! =D )
So did you play drums on Shift? I'm a bit confused about a few words you used in the answer to Nils' question.
As I previously said, Shift is my fav album by Nasum. The riffs are PURE POWER and the drumsounds are ones of the best I've ever heard in GrindCore. What was the snare brand & model if you remember? It sounds a bit like my friend's 70's Slingerland 14"x5.5" snare.
Still trying to find Grind Finale from somewhere to my collection, but not looking so bright, cant seem to find it anywhere inside Finland.
I've downloaded the live show recorded in Belgium with Shane Embury, and I've noticed Mieszko introduces Mitch Dickinson as a drummer on the Terrorizer cover. What did you play? Did you have two drummers?
I listened to Grind Finale a hell of a lot over the spring break, and the one song that really got to me was, "God-Slave America", and I read it was supposed to be on Human 2.0 but it wasnt..
The intro has to be one of the best riffs you ever came up with, why wasn't it placed along with the other tracks from Human 2.0?
Have you heard of the Czech Republic grindcore band called "Pigsty"? When you hear them tell me what you think, because I think they are one of the most intense and wild bands that ive heard in a while. They have that crushing effect like Nasum did. But you guys were a hell of a lot better.See ya later Anders and keep on grinding buddy!!
If the tabs are a no, then just let me know what tuning the guitars were on Shift.
[Respect, forever, R.I.P Mieszko Talarczyk]
The tuning was "drop-A". / Anders
P.S. Do an interview with Danny Herrera.
Keep yer grinding!
i read somewhere that anal cunt made a song making fun of mieszko. do you know what that song that was? also was there some bad blood between nasum and anal cunt that caused seth to write that song or was he just being random jackass like usual?
(ps coldworker and pig destroyer should do a split)
(ps We actually will...) / Anders
this was my suggestion!:)
I would love it, too!
But Anders should put priority into writing good music!
Anders, do you like the band The Black Dahlia Murder?
Besides Nasum they are my favourite musicians!
Even if they have some melodies inside their style, i think they are almost not to beat in brutality!
best regards,
Josh
what about a last run of merch?
somebody made the suggestion of printing something on unhooded sweatshirts, i think they are called crewnecksweatshirts. that would be brilliant and i would love it!
greetings,
Jeremy
Oh, I just ordered Grind Finale from Relapse, and finally got it a few days ago. It's fucking amazing, and I wanted to know if you were the one who created the cool looking logo on the actual CD (the barbed wire surronding the bullets)?
I was wondering if you could translate that big message into English, because it seems like an important one if you posted the question.
If you can, thank you with all respects.
Q: How did you write songs for Nasum? As I've understood it you didn't collaborate but wrote your own songs. Or did some songs emerge from jams? How is the average way you write a song? Any other tips for song writing and creativity?
And my unabriged reply:
A: Mieszko used to leave some room for jaming when it came to the arrangements of the songs, and sometimes a song was born in the spur of the moment. Generally speaking I am not a fan of creating in the rehearsal room - you can be creative there, but to stand and try to come up with things from scratch is a waste of time.
For the Coldworker album everyone contributed with riffs and then we pieced it together, but now we have begun writing more on our own which is a result of us finding our collective style. So my song writing is pretty much in the same way as in Nasum, with the obvious differences (and I'm not really meaning musically).
Most of my riffs emerge when I pick up the guitar as I watch tv or something. You play a little and all of a sudden something resembling a riff is there, and then you polish it until the form settles. In connection with this usually another riff appears as a follow up and then you start to feel what it is - a verse, a chorus, an intro?
After a while you have a few combinations of riffs that might be pieced together to a song, or it becomes multiple songs, or you realise that you can combine two riffs and make something more exciting out of it.
And so it goes. The last year I've picked up the habit of writing down every riff I make not to lose them. The song writing in Coldworker consists of all of us sending recorded riffs and tabs to eachother so everyone can try it at home to make us more effecient on location. It's become a cornerstone in our way of working.
I think about music a lot and now and again ideas are born in my head that I then have to try and "pick out" on the guitar. The Coldworker song "Return to Ashes" is an example of that. Among the new songs we're writing right now there is a part that I first wrote on the drums. I sat drumming through the song as long as it was written and then continued with a slightly strange 2/4 backbeat with some accents and stuff and then went to the guitar to figure out how the riff should be played. It ended up a very good and odd riff, but I think that that method of writing only works when you have a drumpart that is out of the ordinary.
My best tip is to document yourselves as much as possible. You have to have the opportunity to listen to your songs objectively without playing at the same time. I.e. a rehearsal or a simple demo is a must for my song writing right now. A song is rarely finished once you've played it through and feels that it's alright. It's a first draft and there are always things to improve.
Good luck with the song writing - to be creative is the best thing I know! / Anders
do you hear great polish grindcore bands - Rze¼nia and Trocki? If not - try those sites:
for Rze¼nia - http://www.selfmadegod.com/main.php?go=mp3_common
And Trocki -
http://www.redrum666.risp.pl/muzyka_pl.html
And what you think about those bands?
Anders
Nasum's show with Blockheads was filmed in Nancy (France), Austrasique on the November 2 2004.
Have you got the video, or do you know who filmed it ?
Jag är väldigt nyfiken måste jag säga!
I was recently reading through the track by track breakdowns and on the song "sometimes dead is better" you said you didnt like your vocals in that song. Why didnt you like your vocals, I thought they kicked ass!
keep on grinding man!
I contacted The Managing Director of Earache Digby Pearson and he said the following: ,,This is an official t shirt..yes hard to believe I know..carcass approved this!! The first official shirt in 15 yrs."
Isn't it disgusting?
What were your thoughts about guitar solo's, or harmony guitar parts in nasum songs (seems like there were many more parts in later nasum songs where guitars play different things)
Cheers for being available to answer questions
I am the best example that this still could lead to worse interpretations than the religious messages shown on the shirt!
I just wanted to know in your opinion your top 5 grind albums?
How about:
Napalm Death - "Mentally murdered"
Terrorizer - "World downfall"
DropDead - first LP
Repulsion - "Horrified"
Carcass - "Symphonies of sickness"? / Anders
Please look at what the fuck they are selling on ebay
I was shocked when I saw that somebody creats shirts of Carcass where swastikles are shown. I don't have any contact adresses from the former Carcass members but I think they would be shocked even more since this would put them in the wrongest light i can imagine. Do you know how to report such shit to ebay?
Best,
Josh
I guess you could send the link to Earache and they might report it or whatever. / Anders

Little remark on the drumcomputerbands-subject:
The Berzerker was mentioned. They use a drumcomputer but not on the second cd,titled "Dissimulate",it's with a human drummer.
That record is extremely fast and is certainly worth checking out.
Well, I haven't heard enough of The Berzerker to really speak about this subject, but from what I have heard I'd really like to hear the drumming without the triggers... / Anders
/Richard
Reading your answer about the fastest band you know, i noticed the point where you say you only listen to bands with human player. I substantially agree with you if we think about the overall sound of a real drum compared to that of a drum machine. Still, i think that a couple of "drum machine bands" are worth listening to: for instance, i really like some agoraphobic nosebleed records, and also in ministry we can find many drum machine parts...oh, well, anyway, he point is, if a band has no real drummer, do you preclude to yourself listening to it?
bye bye from italy!
You are totally right - there are lots of very good bands with drum machines, like Ministry, Godflesh and a few others where the drum machine in a way is a defining part of the sound. In grindcore it isn't.
Sorry for being a little bit "short" in my previous answer. / Anders
Is that chorus in "Worldcraft" somehow influenced by LARDs "Faith, Hope and Treachery"? To me it sounds similar with those background noises.
What is the fastest band that you have ever heard? Probably the berzerker or something?
So according to all this, I believe that the fastest band I listen to is Hate Eternal. A consistant fast speed through out the songs and the album. / Anders
I'm making a poster of my favorite bands, using the cover's of their albums and such, and when I got to Nasum, I couldn't quite make out what the picture was from the "Domedagen" demo... it almost looks like a fireman being trained, but I highly doubt that.
Do you happen to know what the image for this was?
In the beginning of "Just Another Hog", is that a movie clip of someone talking or was it one of you guys speaking during the recording of Helvete?
Dream bill

GRIND TO SURVIVE
I didn't know that this anal cunt said this. If this is true I am deeply shocked. I know there are stupid people on earth but I cant't imagine those stupid people saying something like this.
Such a guy should be treated by justice, I mean the socalled governement.
I am not that family with law and all that but isn't that a crime already?
I am so sorry to hear something like this...
I don't know if anything happened with that "song" or not. I don't even care, but if it's released I guess the reactions from people will come quite natural. Not that Seth would care. / Anders
I was just wanting to tell you I was recently reading some earliar posts and I couldnt help but see something saying "I'm glad that faggot from nasum is dead"from a band called anal cunt (what a joke).I just wanted to tell you that ,that kind of stuff dissapoits me when people say they are glad someone else has passed away, also they are an american band and that shows a negative reflection on America,I wanted to tell you please dont be pissed at Americans just because some dumbass clueless band has to be gay. Were not all like that (thank god).I know this isnt a question but rather a statement and opinion,I just had to tell you this so you didnt think we were a bunch of low lives.Keep in mind we all love you man.
do you know where i can get the frank lee-lyrics of "the world just stopped"?
besides:
the coldworker-album is great! i got it a few days ago and it's really amazing!
I usually check the Nasum site weekly to see if updates and such are happening, and something that has caught my eye each time is the;
" Yet unanswered questions: 1. "
I've seen that there for awhile, and was thinking what the question was? I'm thinking it could be a personal question, if so, I'm sorry for asking this question.
Let me ask you a question; what equipment did Nasum use to get that guitar sound on Shift? And how many guitar tracks are there (on the average) per song? :)
Neither Urban nor I remembers the exact details from the recording as it wasn't documented in any way, but it's very likely that the recording was quite similar to "Helvete" when it comes to the guitars, i.e. Mieszko miked the guitars with a couple of mikes (I have a slight memory of only two for "Shift") and all guitars were dubbed (four tracks of guitars in total). / Anders
Anders
Before my question, I must say that out of all the band sites I've been on, you are the most dedicated to the site, answering questions daily and just all together showing a lot of dedication to the fans, it's awesome =).
But yes.. Out of the hundreds of Nasum songs I've listened to, the one that confused me the most, was "Soendermald", from "Industrislaven"... I know the song is the same as "Ingenting Att Ha!", but the vocals are... psychotic regurgitating sounds.
I was wondering if you could tell me the story or the answer behind the song?
"Söndermald" is actually that slow instrumental track and the song you are asking about is called "Revolution II" (as it's a reprise of "Revolution"), and it was supposed to be a hidden bonus track, but it got it's own track #, thus making the tracklist "correct", when it comes to the number of titles and the number or tracks.
I can't quite remember why we did "Revolution II" in the first place. I think it had to do with the original having an improvised vocal part in the middle and we decided to do an all improvised take with a pitch shifter. Something like that. / Anders
will you do more nasum merch?
greetings
Have you ever thought about recording a drum video?
I've seen some awesome demo's of other drummers, and I think you could do the same.
Maybe a tutorial on how to do grindcore, or just some wicked beats of yours?
=).
i think i'm one of your youngest fans. i'm fourteen and i want to play guitar like you. is there any tip about playing grindcore guitar?
thank a lot
do you speak or understand any german? i heard that the swedish or norway children are learning something at school!
greetings,
josh
I had another question I thought of today, when I was listening to "Really Fast" and realized Rickard was doing the drumming.
How hard was it (especially in the grindcore genre) for you to switch from playing guitar, to jump right into playing the drums permanently?
Thank you for all the time you have spent answering my questions =).
You need to get "Grind Finale" and read all the stories about the recordings. / Anders
Quick question
With which nasum album, when writing and recording, do you think you were most in touch with your emotions and most connected as a band?
Cuz sometimes things happen in our lives or in our world just once, but is enough to bring about a change of emotions, and youd feel that the inspiration would just flow out and the album would feel right.
Im just wondering which album was closest to that speculation?
Cheers me amigo
Sorry about the length of this post just like in my last question, but now i realise im just fucking making it longer with every word.
Omid
On "Human 2.0" there's a song called "Sometimes dead is better" which was my way of dealing with a broken relationship. That song and a couple more were directly inspired by personal things. / Anders
Anders
P.S. Another question, do you know if Nasum's t-shirts are distributed in Italy??? Thanks NASUM YOU'RE THE BEST OF GRIND
If there's any Nasum t-shirts distributed in Italy they are probably bootleg shirts. / Anders
Anders
I had my I-pod on a Nasum shuffle and I got to the intro of Industrislaven.
I wasn't quite sure what the sound was in the beginning.
Sounded like people mining or guitar feedback?
Do you happen to know what it was? =)
P.S. You guys were the best ever, you guys owned any band i know and i know a hell of a lot of bands!I have high hopes for Gadget, they kick ass and have lots of potential.Well anyway good luck in the future man and keep on grinding we all love you to death.
R.I.P-Mieszko(a legend)
Of the albums I think the one with the most brutal passages is "Shift". Like the opening riff/part of "Particles" or the pumping Bolt Throweresque part in "Circle of Defeat". Nasum never got more brutal than that. / Anders
http://paginas.terra.com.br/arte/diagnosecrust/facada/
We are Facada grindcore from Brazil. Cheers!
Greets from The Netherlands
Anders
I was listening to A Request For Guidance a few minutes ago, and amonst the beautiful snare drum assault, I wondered about 2 things.
1. I couldn't quite make out from the photos, but what set of drums did you use for most of your shows?
2. What album of Nasum's did you enjoy most of your work on?
All the best to Krigshot =) !
2. I haven't listened to the Nasum albums in a while, but I actually listened to the Making of "Preview of hell" mp3 today and was surprised by the druming. Generally speaking I am not fully satisfied with any of the albums drumwise, compaired to the Coldworker album which is basically faultless (?), but to say something I say "Helvete". / Anders
before I ask my question, I'd like to say how fucking wicked your technique of blast beats are. I dont know if its the extra kick you throw in, it just suits everything you play.
But to the question;
Does the band you are in now ever play any Nasum songs? for fun or tribute?
greetings to coldwörker
Im a drummer from ireland, and not to lick your balls like everyone else does cuz im sure your sick of it, but i admire your drumming technique, both fast and slow Some of those blast beats get so fast, moreover conveying of anger it would seem
.
I was wondering what your take was on the thrash band propagandhi, cuz you covered one of their songs and you guys have a lot in common, like it seems to me you both used your music partly as a medium to promote a message, just as my band (warning shot) attempts to do.
Sorry about the huge length of this post, its ridiculous.
May the grind be with you.
Omid
Well, Propagandhi was and is one of the most political bands I know about and their enthusiasm really inspired me although I am not a political person in the same way they are. Plus, I really enjoyed the music and so did Mieszko. At that point "Rio de San Atlanta, Manitoba" was their rawest song so it was fairly easy to make a cover of it and sort of stay true to the original feeling of the song and presenting it for an audience who probably weren't aware of them, instead of doing another cover by a band that they already know about. / Anders
Are there plans for a Nasum live dvd?
Mieszko 1974 - 2004
Is there any chance to get my hands to the Live In Hultsfred '03 video ? Will it be posted to the site ?
Long live Mieszko !
I find the riffs on "Scoop" and "Wrath" irresistible and want to play them on guitar.
I'm having a difficult time figuring them out and cannot find the tabs for them online.
Do you know where I could find the tabs for these songs?
Thanks,
Noel
Can you tell me from which movie the sample is at the beginning of "Blind World" from the split with Agathocles?
Thank you very much
just wondering about the t-shirt production. they're friggin awesome, but also friggin hard to get off your website. my closet feels empty without the "grind" shirt, which i cant find anywhere else. help? advice?
I think I will do another round of t-shirts in December but I don't know what designs as of now. / Anders
On question i've been meaning to ask for a long time that i'm sure has been answered at one point. What does the "mangel" in orebromangel mean when it is put in that context?
The "Örebromangel" title is of course comes from a classic Swedish hardcore tape called "Stockholmsmangel" wíth some of the prime hardcore bands of the 80's Stockholm scene. / Anders
also, is there colored vinyl for the release?
thanks man
The vinyl has the color black, the only true vinyl color! / Anders
Will any more Nasum merch be made, because I am looking for the Crass style logo and the NASUM GRIND logo. Thanks for your help
P.S Coldworker is sounding SICK
Thanks
I wanted to know if there are plannings for a NASUM tribute compilation in future, such as some labels did with Brutal Truth for example. If yes, could you post a contact adress where bands can apply to become a part of it.
I would be grateful for an answer.
thanks!

What is your favourite swedish band(s)?
Greets from Hungary.
Anders
Why was Nasum able to write so many song?
Did you and Mieszko write whole songs seperately or bring rough ideas to rehearsal? Did guitar parts come first or drum/vocal patterns? I think you guys wrote consistently strong brutal material and hid all the bands you claim to have borrowed from well
Grind is the Answer
"You never know what's the reaction. I guess it was last year when Swedish grindcore act Nasum was here in Tampere and at least one of their members had been earlier in a death metal band Necropsy who's 7" I really liked earlier. However, a friend of mine told me not to talk to them about Necropsy. To this day, I don't know why, but I didn't talk.
Are you Necropsy?
And I hope that forum post is dated 2004 because "last year" we were in Tampere, was in 2003. / Anders

www.myspace.com/andsoshedied
och lyssna och säga vad tycker?
Psst! Coldworker är bra! Bra jobbat! ^^
I Listened Nasum In a cd of releapse and I just said: Grind Core is what I want to do, I did not know Nasum was finished but I understand this kind of love and friendship stuff.
I have an individual grind Core project called PROYECTO PANICA and I just have recorded my first demo-cd in my own house but ditribution is very hard.
from colombia a friend
I know...this is not a question...
You don't miss Nasum ?
Under "Out now" på Unrest records hemsida finns "Grind Finale"!
Är den på gång nu alltså!?
I see the point - polish fans never see the "live Anders action" so maybe this is the chance and D&D ale wery hard&noisy shit...and if we (polish fans) please ? You must see us in "action" - belive me, you be very happy...our reaction for song like D&D ale very "lifeles" so... I count on you!
And tell me why World in turmoil are soo sad? Some life problem or something? Silent Sanguinary Soil are soo..."unhappy"...
And - what do you think abount Bathory ?
PS
Again sorry for poor english :)
I only do deep vocals on "World in turmoil", all the other vocals are Mieszko's.
Lucky you, I had a translation of that song:
---
A WORLD WITHOUT HOPE
Our lives have no meaning, our seed gives no crop
I have thought so many times that we might as well just die
Show me a human, show me one happy soul
Show me a truth that isn’t blackened
Our children have no future, our seed gives no bread
I have thought so many times that we might as well just die
Tell me how many people suffers on this earth
How can you feel hope when the only thing that awaits is death?

Pretty depressing shit! / Anders
And again
ZAPRASZAMY DO POLSKI !!!
2. Är inte det oundvikligt? / Anders
NASUM is my fucking life.and a part of you lives in me forever.nobody can copy NASUM,it´s the spirit of grind, metal, punk and the influce of melodic core, rock´n roll...lyrics about war, hate or human emotions.you gave us more then music...
questions:
when comes the grind finale lp in stores?
do you want to play in another grind core band again?
where can I get rare nasum stuff?
p.s sorry for post about stricto coldworker in NASUM site :)
nasum for all who knows what world going to...
what do you think of the band's Exhale and Splitter?
I think their both great especially Splitter, them and a hell of alot of other grindcore band's really show the impact which Nasum had on Grindcore, you guy's have had the biggest impact on Grind since when it started with Carcass, Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death and Brutal Truth and that is some mighty boots to fill which you guy's done perfectly.
Listen out for the Extreme Noise Terror split with Driller killer on Osmose Productions The Extreme Noise Terror side is the most brutal to date by the band and it's classic Extreme Noise Terror Mixed with Extreme Grind.
Anders
My mastering work on "Grind Finale" was more a matter of adjusting the output volume from one session to another and also adjusting the EQ slightly so the overall sound became more even and not a direct transfer from the original sources. A more "professional" masterer would have worked more with the stuff but I didn't feel that it was necessary to put a lot of money into such demanding work. / Anders
http://paginas.terra.com.br/arte/diagnosecrust/facada/
We recorded "Time to Act", our homage for the almigthy Nasum. The other 3 songs are from Facada from Brazil and it will be in our debut CD. Is there any chance to include "Time to act" in our record? Cheers!!
i mean, how do you get the croaking voice? I would shout too, but i don t know how it works. Can you help me there please?
thanks :)
in the Song "Black Vision" is a deep and a croaking voice. Can you tell how it works please.
Nasum is very well. :)
i recently started listening to nasum and really getting into the music, sadly bumped out that you guys dont play anymore, but is the ex-nasum project gonna go any further
there was a shirt design in the merch called 'olive', or kinda like that.
could you give me the name of the font, or a vectored image of the design?
thanks!

Now that thats out of the way.... i'm asking because you said that you had to get back into straight 16th for deathmetal in Coldworker, and I can play quick footwork with the bass, but just not 16ths. The answer I commonly get to this is just "practice a LOT, very slowly". And that doesn't always work out just right as my feet pretty much sporadicaly twitch and speed up at just about whatever tempo. Any ideas? I'm going crazy over this.
I recognise the sort of flaws you described: feets twitching and problems having the beats even in the same tempo. It's very frustrating.
The obvious solution is to practise as much as you can. I'm not into the "practise very slow" idea because you don't learn double bass to play slow. If it's slower than what you can accomplish with only one feet then what's the point? I think the thing is to find a tempo that feels nice and that you are comfortable playing and then practise in that tempo.
For me it was much easier to play double bass in 6/8 than in 4/4, so that's maybe something you can try aswell.
When I started to focus on really learning double bass I started practising at home by just putting a pillow on the floor and sit on a normal chair doing double bass motions with the legs to any sort of music. My girlfriend thought it was weird but I believe it helped.
Then it's just a matter of practising it on the drums. For me it's always easier to play to a good riff than just play a beat by yourself. So get a tolerant member of you band to play along!
When it comes to the heel up/down problem, I don't really know what to say. I think your body will tell you what technique suits you the best and then just go with it. I've recognised when I've studied myself during rehearsals that I tend to alter a lot between the techniques. I can actually say that at one point one feet was heel down and the other heel up so I guess my body is working on that.
Here is a great "foot technique 101" from Derek Roddy's forum. There's a lot of interesting things to read here along with some cool video clips. Have a look, get inspired and get going with the drums! Good luck! / Anders
Anders
This question is directed to Anders. Do you play with metronome? What's the speed you usualy play blast beats and "skank" beats (if not the same)?
Crazy, isn't it? ;)
Thanks for the link, I hadn't thought of YouTube as an source for Nasum clips. / Anders
// Fredrik
Kommer man kunna köpa Grind Finale ifrån hemsidan?
Såg den här Blind World t-shirten på ebay häromdagen: http://cgi.ebay.com/NASUM-BLIND-WORLD-SHIRT-necrony-carcass-regurgitate-7_W0QQitemZ4873148457QQcategoryZ306QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Det är inte den officiella eller? (Med World in Turmoil-trycket på ryggen).
2. Vad säger killen som kommer in och pratar i låten "Krigshetsare" med krigshot, ca 1.14 in i låten
Tack på förhand!
2. "Killen" (= jag) babblar om George Bush. / Anders
for exemple, i would like to buy your hood sweat with japanese langage
thanks and sorry for my bad english ^^
I know you're a big Tool fan, and I was wondering if you've heard the new album yet? If so, what are your thoughts? Personally I was blown away when I heard the whole thing... Vicarious didn't stand out too much, but I was fucking blown away by the remainder of the songs. Hope you're doing well, keep grinding.
Schysst spelning i fredags!
Keep it grind man!
Anders
thanx
somehow I can't download the live-recordings from audio/video-section. Just wondering if anything's wrong with it.
//Constantin
I don't really have a question. Well I sent you an email, I hope you can read it sometime, but I just wanted to say; I'm sure you've heard this enough times and it might not mean alot, but I just wanted to say thanks for all the great music, and for all the great inspiration over the years. I first started to listen to Nasum when I was about 11 or 12, I'm 20 now, and I'm sad that I never got to see you guys play live. Much respect and love for Mieszko, his family, and ex Nasum.
Thanks for keeping the dream alive. Thanks for the great music. I can't wait to hear more of it when the time is right for you. Every time I listen to Nasum I am very happy and motivated; sometimes i feel very lonely and depressed and your music makes me feel very comforted
I hope to hear more music from you. Much respect. And I hope you could reply to my email when you had a chance.
Respect to you Anders.
The other stuff I have found so far is not good enough for CD/vinyl but good enough for the web, so there will be some liveclips at nasum.com pretty soon. / Anders
are you going to update (create...) the FAQ page ever? considering that you continue to receive always the same questions in Q&A, it should be a good idea...or at least this is my point of view!
See ya!
Could you please explain the significance of this symbol to Nasum, and what it means.
(Where I come from- Australia- this symbol usually refers to "recycle")
Thanks, Anders, and I just want to say I am totally enjoying G.F.! Also, many people probably say this, but a listen in one sit down is nothing but pure enjoyment for me! GRRRIND!
/Richard
Anders
Any word on the status of a vinyl release for Grind Finale? I can imagine that this would be a complete Masterpiece on Vinyl and I know that I would love to have it in my Collection as do others.
Just wondering, thanks again.
Nothing is decided on the vinyl yet, but I guess it will be done eventually. Hopefully quite soon as I would not want future Nasum releases (in my world the "Grind Finale" vinyl, the "Shift" PD and the Nasum/Napalm Death split) to appear as greedy attempts to milk out the last money from the band.
/ Anders
I think an album dedicated to Mieszko, demanding and extrem played will be the best farewell!
/Richard
I beg a favor with you.
I would like to go to Mieszko´s grave and pray his good sleep. All I know is that it´s in Örebro.
So will you tell me how I can get there from the Örebro station, woun´t you?
I´m going to Örebro tomorrow or next day.

I am proud that i have seen one off the last Nasum Shows in germany! In Bremen it was an great Gig and i am so sorry about Mieszko.
Now to my Question:
What are your plans for the future?
Can we hope on an new nasum album or will Nasum never come back?
Greetings from Germany
ps. The new vocals are great! With all respect for Mieszko's work on the earlier ones of course.
I hope you're not using "Misslyckade" as a screen name, because it's really not the correct way to use that word. / Anders
Hehe!

Do you like following bands or scene-icons (or whatever they may be called):
Spazz, G-anx, Hellnation, The Locust, Discordance axis, Black army jacket, Massgrav, Bruce Banner, Melt banana....
Just being nosey ;)
"The hardcore elite, we curse you all", vad/vilka syftar ni på då?
Anders
I´ve never figured out, what you were screaming in the song "This is it". I mean the part which is not printed in the lyrics. "This is what it´s all about, this is why we play, this is why we make your day, this is it..." and then ?
Also, are you guys always so nonchalant looking when you practice (your new band and previoiusly in Nasum)?
I think we're just focused, but if you are confident in your playing it's easy to just relax and grind. / Anders
"Im glad that faggot from Nasum is dead".
Anders
Anders
..."i'm glad that faggot from nasum is dead" - Ny låt ifrån Anal cunts kommande album. Beef?
A: Orka bry sig. / Anders
http://www.relapse.com/ecards/Cretin/
Rekommenderar Sound Pollution enligt tidigare, 189 kr. / Anders
My personal snare is a Mapex Black Panther, but on the recordings I have used Soundlab's snares, Pearl and DW, don't know the models. / Anders
1.) did rickard play drums at the first and the second nasum-show (Åstorp/Sweden & Berlin/Germany)?
2.) why was rickard not interested to do live-shows?
3.) what is rickard doing now (band)?
2. Too lazy to grind.
3. Rocking the shit out in The Accidents. / Anders

Anders
Sitter här och går igenom lite gamla "klenoder", bl a Route Nine.
Mycket bra pris. / Anders
whould you say that you hit the kicks with more force or is it catching it on a nerve?, as some drummers play real ligh,t heal up, and triggered I am just trying to figure out how to sustain ones playing thanx again, We will spread the Grind !
First of all, I play heal down. It's possible that the heal goes up a bit during the blasts and d-beats, I have to study that some time. I would say that my beats are fairly hard - I would definitively not label them as "light".
The bass drum head is tuned average towards tighter. A good bounce is always nice.
The spring on the right beater is about in the middle and it's about the same for the left. This configuration only works for my current style of drumming where the left one only fills in on occation. I am currently trying to figure out how to play double bass and this configuration isn't working out. By tightening the spring in the left one I will be able to play easier with my weaker left leg, but when I tighten the spring now the beater ends up in a weird angle that prolongs the distance against the skin, so I need to do some hardware surgery to change the angle and see what happens. I actually bought the tools I need today. / Anders
Q are u a self taught drummer, do u play on feeling rather then using music theory and did it take a long time to master the blast with all the little cymbal intricacies?
are there any tips or practice ragimes for improving stamina and mastering the blasts? as im trying to educate a drummer friend of mine so we can GRIND! he can blast very sloppy for about 30seconeds with a declining tempo hahah!
Ps You are a modern day Mick harris! blast on!
ps again even know i'm a guitarist im obsessed with drumming(i wouldnt have to programme beats if we had good enough drummers here)
THANKS for your time.
So I went and learned a lot about technique, rudiments and such. I played in a couple of ensembles and even a big band for a while, so I had my share of drum education during those years.
While you learn how to play the drums you don't really learn how to be a metal or grind drummer, that stuff you have to learn the hard way, and to answer your question I think I rely more on feeling than theory in this case, thought all the stuff I learnt of course is in my backbone and an important part in my playing. That is probably most evident in the more "alternative" blasts I do.
The cymbal rhythms/accents came from Assück at first (especially the "Misery Index" 12") and was something I could be able to incorporate once I felt really confident in the blasts. Mieszko - who by far is the musician I've played the most with - loved that stuff and often came with rhythm suggestions that I had to learn, so much stuff came from him.
I am in general a very un-technical drummer so I haven't got any proper tips for improved blasting. I think the trick is to just practise, play and play. When I moved from the guitar to the drums in Nasum my blasts were sloppy, short and weak so I'm sure he will improve very soon. / Anders
DO you find that the Grind scene in sweeden has a bigger fanbase then that of England where there really is no grind movment, 'Grind' has become a buzz word, most people think that kill switch engaged are grindcore? this sux, i'm trying to find musicians who want to Grind in the UK, the standards of musicianship are really bad here for extreme music, drummers cant blast or even blast in time. the ride work when your blasting on 'Scoop' blow me! respect. ps we are very sorry for the loss of mieszko RIP.
I would say that there are few people that only listens to grindcore here - at our Swedish shows the audience were always very diverse with punk, hardcore kids, metalheads and so on, so I don't really know what to say about this.
The "Scoop" blast actually has accents on the china, but if you hear it as the accents are on the ride I believe the beat may sound stranger than it in reality is. / Anders
Anders
Är den utlovade bäst-2005-listan på gång?
Du har ingen aning om var det går att få tag på de två första splitarna och ep:n (Smile when you're dead, Blind World, ... Turmoil).
Inga obskyra samlarobjekt. / Anders
PS: Grind Finale kicks ass!!!
The Amp settings, Treble Middle and Bass, scaled 1 - 10 and how much distortion scaled 1-10 (if you not exactley know just say what you think?)
Would be great!
Respect and greetings!
what model exactly is it? and how it sounds? (better than a triple mesa???)
thanx for your time, grind finale kicks asses!
I like Fury most followed by Hets, The Deepest Hole and Darkness Falls, all from the shift album.
I liked songs like Krossa and Fear much too! Wonder why they never ended up on the full-lengths.
anyway keep up the good work!
Greetings
We never really thought of rerecording tracks released on 7" EP's for our fullengths, apart from the rerecording of "No paradise for the damned" on "Shift". / Anders
Having a drummachine and claim to play grind is a huge offence against me and everyother grindcoredrummer out there. It's like a few cars in the Formula 1 race should be placed on rails like some train.
I think some music benefit from having drummachines. I wouldn't have loved Godflesh and Pitchshifter if not for the stiffness and odd sound their drummachines add.
The same arguments - to a lesser degree - can be applied to the drummers that loves to trigger all their drums instead of using the natural sound of the drum. What's the point of playing as good as you can and then make it sound like a drummachine? I don't get it! / Anders
Any news about the live split with Napalm Death?
Anders
I have heard that they did influence Napalm Death.
Anders
Thanx
Med vänliga hälsningar, Fredrik.
Vad är det för märke på t-shirtsen? Är det Fruit Of The Loom?
either way, i picked it up as soon as i seen it :) and all i can say is im blown away! awsome book too
Double "digibook" looks fine also, but to put it frankly, package is not very top-quality product. Booklet is gonna tear of soon, cause it was already almost detached when i bought it. Well, i can live with that, cause booklet is otherwise awesome and full of intresting information/anecdotes.
Have you seen those two " perfect collections" by Discordance Axis or were they even used as a model/inspiration when planning "GF"? DA put their "documentary" in DVD-cases, which are awesome and they also include massive booklet with linear notes/history/pics/song by song commentary. Dave Witte also rules !
I have not seen those Discordance Axis collections. The "inspiration" for the package came from Tool's "Salival" DVD/CD. The first packaging suggestion was a double DVD-digipack with a pocket for the booklet, but it wasn't possible to fit the thick booklet we needed in that package. / Anders
are the GSS songs "the new storm" and "air - a prelude to hell" more or less the same songs?
I have to ask this. I just got Krigshot's album Örebromangel and my question is that are you guys planning to but blast-beats (and more grinding) to Krighshot's upcoming material? I really like Örebromangel, but it sounds too "punk" to my ears
Like I said.
Anders
Yes, artwork was important for us and something that we were very involved in. We believed in the whole package: music, lyrics, artwork, production etc, and what you see in the end is according to our wishes and directions. / Anders
Helt grymmt!
tack!
Vilken film kommer början till "Blind World" ifrån? "..is the perfect... Nasum" menar jag.
What sort of ear plugs did you use playing in nasum?
Did you use a click track when recording drums?
We used click track for certain parts, like the end of "Worst case scenario", the middlepart of "Doombringer" and such. Never during the fast parts. / Anders
Anders
What chinacymbale is used on Inhale/Exhale?
LOVE the sound of it!
As always when it comes down to sound - what you hear is a result of the types of mikes that capture the sound, the distance to the cymbal, the natural room reverb, the eq:ing, the mix, the mastering and your personal eq on your own stereo so what you hear might not be exactly how the cymbal sounds in real life.
But, alas, the cymbal had a nice tone from the start. It was used on every recording from the "World in Turmoil" session to "Helvete". / Anders
"The new line up debuted at a show in Uppsala together with Tragedy. Parts of the show was filmed by Swedish TV who did a feature about Nasum in the music show "Studio Pop"."
Is there any chance of getting this footage up on the site? I know you don't plan on doing a Nasum DVD, but I'm trying to compile as much footage as I can for myself, and to have something filmed professionally outside of the "Wrath" video would be a great addition to the collection.
Thanks

www.metalpriest.de
It'd be cool if you made a search filed in this Q&A forum... Can you do it?! It's very difficult to search 420 questions for the answer we're looking for...
thanks
M.
I'd say something like Myshko Talarshyk (in English) or is this completely wrong ?
If you haven't heard it by now, go here: http://www.myspace.com/terrorizergrindcore
All the best for 2006.
Grymt!
Nu till min fråga... Var Nasum ett skriva-hemma-och-ta-med-till-repan-band eller mer improvisera-mera-band?
Sorry about the last question...
Some years later Mieszko did the "Grindwork" 3" MCD and Relapse helped us to sell it and showned interest in the band. A few more years down the road we had released "Industrislaven" and probably recorded the "World in Turmoil/The Black Illusions" records and decided to see if Relapse still was interested and at some point we sent them "Regressive Hostility" recording and they signed us on that one. We've been told that Nasum is the only band they have signed "unseen", but I don't think that is entirely true. The rest of the story is here.
Yes, we were happy with what Relapse did and still do for us. / Anders
I have just recently gotten into Nasum thru the masterpiece that is the Shift album & would like to ask if you might have any plans to maybe travel down under to Australia at some point to hang out for a change of scenery & enjoy seeing & hearing some cool Aussie bands???
Anyway, goodluck w/ everything you choose to pursue in the future mate & all the best for the New Year
-Cheers!
Rob
2.Imagine Napalm Death asks you to become their second guitarplayer, would you accept the offer?
2. No. I am a drummer you know. / Anders
What's up, (ex) Nasum!!!
I have no question, I would just like to say that this is the best band website I have seen! I haven't been here in a while since the release of Helvete, so this is the first time I saw this Q&A page. It's fucking awesome and cool of you Anders to have this page and even answer your fans! I wish you happiness in your personal life and music. It would be cool if other bands have this feature in their site to interact with fans.
Ranting over. I got no question but any comments would be really cool. hahaha
It just seems like a very odd thing to put on a cd cover.
Grind Finale is so.... beautifull!!
But I have some questions:
How will be "Grind Finale" bought?? Only on the Net or in the shops where we find other Nasum cd's?
Will Grind Finale be limited? How many do you product?
Thanx for an answer (and sorry if my english sucks, i'm french).
Good luck, and thanx for everything you've done and you do.
Goodbye Mieszko, see ya in a grindcore paradise!!
And boy am I looking forward to January ;)
Have a noisy xmas and new year.
As stated over and over again - this is a project, not a band - so it will exist on a pure project level, i.e. get together when the time is right, write some songs, record demos, perhaps record a record of some kind. I don't think shows or tours are in the picture, to be honest.
I would estimate that the lyrical content should be as old school as the music and not have a political approach. There was an original plan for the lyrics when I approached the guys about the project, but I don't think we will follow that plan due to the quality of the songs. / Anders
/jens
Well here's a question I've been asking a couple people I know and no one has a accurate answer. I thought why not ask someone who is actually in a well known grindcore band... here it is:
According to books like "Choosing Death: The Improbable Histroy of Death Metal and Grindcore" and many other people within the metal/punk scene, Napalm Death are considered to be the "gateway" band to extremeness in the extreme metal/hardcore world being they've supposedly invented the "blast beat" and shcizophrenic hardcore punk (aka grindcore today.) What do you feel about Napalm Death's contribution to the extreme world? Would there have never been any blast beats in death/black metal if it wasn't for Napalm Death? Was grindcore in fact invented by them?
This is a debateable quesiton I know, but what are your feelings on this being you were apart of the whole grindcore movement?
But: Napalm Death was the first band to put grindcore on the map (much due to John Peel's radioshow in England), so they probably had a lot of influence on extreme music in general, and ultimately how things are today. I've never seen Napalm Death as the reason for blast beats in death/black. I think it would have came natural in those genres eventually anyway.
Bands have always been looking for ways to be more extreme, and increasing the speed is certainly one way to do it. I remember when I first head Accept's "Fast as a shark" during the 80's and was totally blown away by the speed. A couple of years later I heard Slayer's "Silent scream" and felt that it was so fast that I couldn't hardly listen to it. A year later I heard grindcore for the first time and understood that the speed limit was reached (in hindsight: not really!).
So Napalm Death's contribution to the extreme world is priceless but I don't think they are the direct reasons to those things you mentioned.
/ Anders
Jobbar upp mig i samlingen...
Va svarade Seth på er lilla You look divorced-kör då?
Anders
im chris from bergamo (italy) ..i write for this questions.....
is possible have a contact with your friends or another your friendly people for have a video registration of the live concert of nasum in csa dordoni in cremona in december 2004....before i search this item with a metal people in italy but is impossible have this item..................
because not create in a NASUM merch...a t-shirt from the cover of a first disegn of grind finale cd (the design with a skull and a big amp. write NICE NOISE is a very funny design and is a very istinct of of a NASUM sound )...thank for your patience chris
nasum forever - forever nasum
The "skull and amp" drawing you talked about was NOT the first design for "Grind Finale"! A t-shirt is not planed with this design. / Anders
2.Where do you see the future of grind, do you see it reverting back to it's grass roots a little or do you think we'll continue to see cross-genre bands that expand the boundaries, so to speak, of grindcore (eg. The Berzerker)?
3.Do you think we'll ever see another major label "cash grab" of grind bands like we did in the mid 90's with Carcass and Napalm Death?
4.What is one band you wish Nasum could have toured with that you were never able to?
5.When you were playing guitar in Nasum, what tunings did you use, and what was your guitar of choice?
2. I can't tell really. I guess grind will never be huge or trendy, but I imagine that bigger bands can bring some grindinfluences to their stuff. We heard it on Slipknot's latest, some say System Of A Down have grindparts now (I don't) and Soilwork has a pure grindsong on their latest (song is called "Blind eye halo" - check it out!). Five years ago I heard more grindinfluences in the hardcorebands but it really didn't catch on, so I have no idea what to expect of the future.
3. I wouldn't say that grind made it to the major labels. Anyway - black metal is a more commercial extreme style so they'll keep to that.
4. Converge. It almost happened, and could have happened during 2005.
5. I had a Ibanez with EMG-81 (still have) and the tuning during my guitar years started with a D-tuning (first two recordings) and then became a B-tuning. / Anders
Hade skitbra / Fredrik
2. Nej. / Anders
You should not judge the sound of my cymbals from the Osaka video because first of all - those cymbals were part of a rented backline and not mine, and second of all the sound has been compressed by a videocamera and then damaged by the videoclip compression, so the sound is really far from the truth. / Anders
I'm looking forward to hearing from your new project.. Which genre will it be? Or is that too early to tell?
But contact me and tell me what you are intrested in and I might print something for you at the next restock. This offer is of course valid for other people as well who wants stuff in other sizes than the available ones. / Anders
I have no real question, I just wanted to tell you a couple of things..
First off, I truly, deeply feel for the loss of Mieszko Talarczyk.. When I read the stuff you had written about him on this page, I felt like crying.. I didn't know him as person, but I am a very big Nasum fan, and just imagining what you guys must be going through, it's.. Horrible.. But I'm glad to hear that you're getting upwards again.. Everything's going to be alright.. I just wanted to tell you, that I too am really sorry that he is no more.. It hurts deeply in my heart.. I wish you the best of luck for the future, and please: Try to keep your mood up..
Second: I'm also very sorry to hear that you have stopped Nasum entirely.. I know that you have written that no one knows what the future will bring, and I really DO NOT want to be selfish, especially not in your situation, but just the thought of Nasum being no more, that is sad.. I would also very much like to see you guys live some time, but of course I fully understand if you cannot keep doing this, being in Nasum.. I truly do.
But what I really want to say, is this: I did not know Mieszko personally or anything, I am only a fan.. But what do you guys think that he would want you to do if he should die? Personally, even though I did not know him, I think he would want you guys to carry on, and still be an active band.. No matter what happened, I think he would want you guys to keep going.. And don't forget the song you guys yourself wrote: "Go!".. "Never give in, never give up, you have to stand strong. If there's a will, there is a way, just f*cking carry on".. That song have helped me a lot when I have been down, and I just wanted to remind you of how you felt when you wrote that..
Well, that was all for now.. A reply would be nice..
And again, good luck to all of you in the future.. Grindcore forever!
In the end it's not really up to that person to decide for the others what to do, it's a matter of how things feel.
I don't know if you play in a band yourself but I am sure you've heard about "band chemistry". Well, we felt that an important ingredient was missing and that it currently is impossible to find.
I am as sorry as the next guy that we never got to do a proper US/Canada tour, or that we never explored the parts of Europe that were unknown for Nasum, or got to Australia and what have you, but a reunion of Nasum isn't really an option anymore.
In a way, the new project I have with Urban and Jon (and ultimately Jesper and hopefully Rickard) will sort of fill the gap Nasum left, although the style of this is slightly different. I am planing to share our October recording with you guys pretty soon (I need to remix it) and you will hear for yourself.
As for "Go!" it was a try to write some sort of positively charged lyrics as a counterpart to our normal lyrics which fed on the negative parts of life and society (something that goes along very well with the aggressive music), and I am glad that it helped you, but it will not bring Nasum back from the dead. / Anders
My question is more rhetorical than anything, though. When are you guys gonna start grinding again?!
MUCH respect to the Talarczyk family.
/J
Oh yeah, I do have a question. Any chance of you merch'ing a Necrony T?
^^ Underbart. Nu till frågan. Hur kan ni vara så bra?!
2. which radiohead album did you prefer, Kid A or Amensiac? ;)
2. Hands down: "Kid A"! One word, five letters: R U L E S! / Anders
/ Anders
undrar vad du tycker om Cult of Luna?
Anders
I just want to know if there is a special meaning throug the fucking great song CAN DE LACH?
BOU FANATIK NASUMER
I was wondering if you can tell me anything about a band from Sweden called Sarcoblaster?
I know one of the guys from Millencolin was in this band, and their song Corruption on the Bad Taste Records CD - Quality Punk Rock is really good. It has a nasum feel to it, so I was wondeirng if you know anything about this band, because I can't find much other than this track, and it is pretty good!
Figured maybe since nasum shared studio/jam space with millencolin members at one time you might have some info.
Thanks,
Paul
There is no relation to Nasum other that I believe that the project picked their name of the Necrony track "Multi-locular Morphea-Sarcoblasters"... / Anders
This is only to know your opinion about the long awaited return of Terrorizer, last news I have says they yet has signed with a record label.
About Grind Finale package is awesome dude.
Peace
First of all. To Jarkko: Here you can find some "rare" (japanese releases) Nasum cd's like Human 2.01: http://www.bigcd.com/store/index.php
Anders
Second question: It should be available in Japan at least. / Anders
"Why Nasum called its 3rd album helvete ?" Cause I'm from switzerland and some people told me "why helvete ?" when they saw my nasum t-shirt. Because an helvete is also a person whom live in switzerland.
Grindly regards
And...what about server ?
I wanna make OFFICIAL site..no fan-site....
And what about copyrights ?
Anders
Maybe this is because I see new video from Behemoth...I know ...I'm suck...
But....I have question...
Can I make OFFICIAL POLISH NASUM SITE ???
Mieszko roots are from Poland so polish fans maybe they wanna know about NASUM in their |country| langue....
Vad tycker du om bandet Kent?
1.Vilka är dina tio i topp album 2005? Behöver inte vara i inbördes ordning. Det är svårt jag vet.
2. Favorit Nasum skiva?
4. Metallica eller Iron maiden?
5. Millencolin eller The Accidents
6. System of a down. Skräp eller geni?
7. Sveriges bästa band nu (2005)?
8. The haunted eller At the gates?
9. Ishockey eller fotboll?
10. Ozzy eller Dio?
5. -
6. Mer geni än skräp, men lite överskattat, fast väldigt bra ändå. Solklar åsikt?
7. Burst.
8. At The Gates. Tveklöst.
9. -
10. -
11. Trummis: Neil Peart, gitarrist: Steve Vai, sångare: -, basist: -, keyboardist: Jens Johansson.

13. -
Anders
I think you need to talk about what you want to do with your music with your fellow bandmembers. If something feels all wrong you should probably talk about it. / Anders
CHEERS!!!
btw nasum, has always had *the* best band website, mostly in terms of available information and completeness.
ALL PRICES INCLUDES SHIPPING COSTS!!!
Anders
I come from Poland ("like" Mieszko :) ) and i wanna say one thing.. T-SHIRTS for poor Nasum fans from poland cost too much money...And I dont have this fucking money. Why they cost soo much ?
PS
Quorthon die (fuck!), Docent from Vader die(fuck) and Mieszko die (fuck!!!) but why Nergal from polish fucking looser-poser-band not die ?! "I HATE THIS FUCKING SHIT"... Doom is closing in...
Regarding your PS: You should not ask the life of someone, I think that is very low... / Anders
I couldn't do a proper blast until I started playing the drums in Nasum at age 23 and the only thing that worked for me was to be devoted to making it and practise, practise, practise. Just do it! / Anders
PLEASE tell me which ex-Nasum member was a math teacher, I'm begging you! It was Jon, wasn't it? He sure is a weird fucker!
Which currency do we bid in and does the bid include shipping??
"fuck the system that fucks you every fucking day"
Where are these words from? - nasum lyrics???
Good to hear you are grinding again with a new project
2. Everything from math teachers to sound engineers, from sex educators to webdesigners... / Anders
- it's mean nasum merch on relapse site is unofficial?-
seems im the only canadian here :) became a fan after hearing inhale/exhale,which was an EXCELLENT album
my question is how come you guys didnt tour canada?
Helt sjukt vad grindcore kan vara vackert.
My Nasum-Shift cd just disappeared oneday and I was well pissed off but now im happy as I bought it again.
MVH Sebbe
Grind/hc grejs.. hadde varit toppen!
http://www11.nrk.no/urort/user/?id=25931
Anders
Do you have any opinion about noise? (merzbow, nordvargr, masonna etc). Being a grind-dude, do you ever listen to extreme electronic music?
(also, check out Muga, top-fuckin-notch grind from japan)
When RELAPSE expending GRIND FINALE in USA? On the Relapse webpage is date 11/15/2005. My friend is coming from USA to Czech Republik 11/25/2005 and would be buy it me. I´m sorry to my English. Thanks and good Luck. Z.
Hare skitbra / MVh / Fredrik
Congrats on the new band, do you have a name yet? And for that Brazilian dude, check out The Zen Of Screaming DVD.
Do You like Mob-47?
fisrt of all, me and others friends in my city love nasum and we started a grind band because of you guys and napalm. We are doing what you did in the past, trying to be like napalm! We are playing nasum, or trying to be like nasum with a little bit of meshuggah! :D
I have another band for 8 years and im starting this project and trying to start a label for crust/core/grind bands, not big, just underground. I would like to know if there will be possibility to have any help of you in any aspect. We, brazilians love fast/core bands like nasum and any improve for the scene from the another country that has good underground basis would help! I can, try, since i didnt start the label yet (like i said, its small, small!) catch up european grind/core/crust bands to get released in Brasil, its what i intend as also release brazilian bands in europe.
Another question, could u recommend me how to get voice hard/strong and good breath to sing lot of words like miesko did? I loose my voice quick and breath sometimes and how to get good sync playing guitar/singin.
Man, im sorry for the long question and would be amazing have your tips/helps and with permission could i send you private emails if u can help me about the label?!
well, thats it for now....
ahh btw do u know anything about it?
"the brazilian tribute to nasum?" i wanna be in touch with thiss guys!
do u like/know of any brazilian band?
cya keep strong!
best regards!
Will those hooded zippers be available again sometime?
Did you ever want to use Nasum as a platform for political change? Were you or Mieszko ever interested in sponsoring or advocating for a personal and particularly important cause or organization through the albums of Nasum (through the artwork or music)? Was the band ever trying to accomplish a specific goal (political or otherwise) with the lyrics and ideologies?
Thanks for the wonderful music in the legacy of Nasum. Mieszko, you, and the other band members of Nasum are blasting my ears all the time.
Or... do you wonder what the word means? It means "Warthreat" or "Threat of war", which ever sounds best for you. / Anders
Men va fan
Alternativ två: Mindre löjligt! / Anders
PS: Kondolerer mvh.
is it:
-Nawsum
-Naysum
-Narsum
Because in Australia people say it all of the above ways.
In all honestly I think everyone can pronounce however they want, (because we pronounce it very Swedish here) but to be as close as possible to the true pronounciation you should listen to the intro we have on the "Blind World" 7" EP, or "Grind Finale" for that matter... / Anders
Since I'm in Sweden (Skövde) now to study here until christmas I'd like to visit Mieszko's grave. Can you tell me where exactly to find it?
Thanks a lot! With deep regards,
Daniel
My question is, do you have any plans to join or start another band anytime in the future?
Hehe. Skulle vara grymt.
Nasum lever kvar i våra hjärtan!
Anders
2. kommer du få in helvete-cd:n inom kort?
Anders
I wonder if you could make all the Krigshot tracks available for download as you can't find most of the stuff on CD/ vinyl anymore anyway... (cheeky, isn't it?)
peace
Dan
can you tell me what guitar and bass equipment nasum used on touring?
thank u :)
You've done mieszko, skitsystem, and nasum. Wonder what my name would look like in the nasum font lol!
Thanks,
Paul
What you think about anarchy?
Ps:Halsa Jon fran mig
Thanks
I was reading the HELVETE process of recording, but when I tryed to download "Making of" Preview of Hell (mp3) the link was not working...
I've downloaded this before, but I've lost it somehow. Can you put it back online?
Thank you!
tack
In the detailed information of Helvete CD/LP the songs Go and The Final Sleep are not in correct order. Can you repair this?
Peace and Grind.
to german guy: it is not so hard to understand swedisch like it may look on first sight. take some time, and you will at least get the main issues and answers! it is almost like dutch, only a bit harder to understand... i think.
thanks for the great new vid in your dl section! i am so fucking angry i did not visit this gig...! Anyway...
Anders, is it somehow possible to send you some mp3 files (or just one~) from own grindcore projects? when i started my "band" i was so much inspired by nasum; actually i started it BECAUSE of nasum. i know that i will NEVER be able to keep up with you, the greatest grinders on earth, but i would really love to know what you think about it and i would really appreciate an experience like that.
Regards.Stilzkin
Och heter den bara"human 2.0" för på andra delen på osaka filmen innan ni lirar Shadows, säger Mieszko "...from our new album human 2.01..."???
... va bara tvungen.
Do You like Anti-Cimex?
Anders
Vad säger du i början av old and tired?
"If you listen really close (and understand Swedish) you can hear me talking shit about the band in the other room..."
Väntar spänt på Grind Finale!
Grind on!
Only one question about your last tour. The track list of München show was the same for all the tour? Maybe the same track list you played in Barcelona? Sorry two question man.
Ja bara undrar hur länge du har manglat trummor?
Älskar Engine of death, så jävla bra!
IT-Grind var det visst någon som sa.... :P
I was actually hoping for a piece on the "Grind Finale" details I published the other day, but no... / Anders
Anders
http://hem.passagen.se/axelxxx/asterisk/
den adressen funkar fortfarande.
Tack, Christian. / Anders
are you thinking about putting the old Linklist with Bands you played with, Bands from the Swedish Grindscene, etc. back online ? If not: do you remember the Internet adress from "Asterisk" ? I wonder if they will be getting new stuff out.
//Mvh Henrik
do you listen any hardcore, metalcore, etc?
Do you know what gauge and brand of strings that Mieszko used? What gauge and brand do you use when you play guitar? Also, what brand and size guitar picks did you guys use?
Sorry, I can't help you with the strings and picks. It's not the secret behind our sound if you thought so... / Anders
Anderes
Greetz,
Olav
Hur beställer man kläderna igentligen?
I will look more at it at some point as well as polishing the Swedish version (well, kind of...) which is really bad.
Funny comparison to the Hitchhiker's Guide... Hehe! / Anders
We had nothing against the USA, but all the tour offers we got after 2001 were not to our satisfaction and would only make us lose money. Going on tour means you have to take an unpaid leave from work, and if one is not getting back what you lose (or at least close to it) it's really not worth it.
But the USA was next on the list and if things would have been different we would most likely allready played there at this time... Sad but true.
I've read some comments by people on message boards over the years that "Nasum wants too much money! Nasum are rockstars!" and whatever - no, we wanted a deal that was equal to what an American band would get if they come to Europe, and noone offered us that. / Anders
ha det!
/Jonas
intresseklubben hälsar
Are the Krigshot MP3's going to be put back up on the Krigshot page/site? I went to listen today and all the links are broken.
Ingen vill gå back.
Anders
Jag satt och tittade på ett avsnitt av South Park alldeles nyss, och så säger en av karaktärerna (till min stora förvåning) något i stil med: "Stick and Stones may braek my bones". Så jag undrar helt enkelt om just den raden i "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Scar" är hämtad från det programmet?
I like the "Nasum" logo. This one, who's at the top on the left. Is there a font-police? (Sorry, I don't know the word in english).
Thanks & Good Afternoon !
quote :
Spring 2002: After a pretty long break from everything Nasum flew to England and shared a nightliner with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Rabies Caste
So could you please expect in simple words waht is that thing, because i am in a will to give the best information page about Nasum for french fans (and they are numberous) i know it's really boring but i did'nt find what it could be, and maybe it is a specifical term, so that is my question. Sorry for boring request, and tanks for the time you'd take to read my words.
There isn't a Swedish word for nightliner, so most people say nightliner in Sweden too. / Anders
Anders
The more I learn of his work, the more I empathize with those whom knew him best.
Later man.
I listen to all sorts of music, and Isis and Neurosis are among my favorites. / Anders
P.S.: Can you recommend some band that are as good as NASUM. The time to october is really very long!!!
You've spoken of mastering/EQing some Nasum live minidisc material from time to time...
I was wondering if you could tell me what you listen to the music on for doing this? Headphones? Studio monitors? And which type?
What is you prefered mastering software?
I'm pretty interested in sound engineering, so that's why I'd like to know what sort of sytem you use. I'm thinking of investing in some monitor speakers some time soon.
Thanks, Daniel.
In the set-list of Grind-Finale, we can find several yet unreleased songs (especially on the second disc...).
Can you explain a lot about where does those songs come from ? I suppose that most of them are outtakes from each of your albums...
/Jonas
What are some of the sales figures for Nasum's albums? Which countries were you most popular in in terms of sales? Were you ever able to, or at least on the verge of being able to make a decent living off of your music? Did Relapse do a good job when it came to promotion of your albums in the USA? Anything else you can tell us about the cover art for Grind Finale?
3) Not at all.
4) I believe so.
5) The idea of "Grind Finale" in general is to collect everything Nasum did between 1993 and 2004, and that goes for the cover as well. The cover is inspired by past Nasum art. Think an early Napalm Death cover in 2005... You'll see it soon! / Anders
This is not so much a question as it is a suggestion.
Perhaps a small section could be made on your site with a list of known recorded NASUM cover songs by other bands? And maybe even a link to their webpage? i.e. [Bandname/Cover recorded/Link]
I know this site is pretty much strictly about NASUM (which is great!), but maybe this feature might introduce people to some new bands that were influenced by NASUM in the same kind of way some people may have been introduced to NASUM via their inclusion on the Carcass Tribute CD. (Although most people would have heard of you before that came out, I would hope!!)
I know of at least one:-
"Inhale/Exhale", recorded by EBOLIE on S/T CD
www.ebolie.cjb.net
Thanks, and keep up the brilliant work! Finest and most interesting band page on the net!
Great Page! I couldn't wait for it to relaunch and checked the side while there was the report of the tsunami tragedy almost everyday. the downloads are great.
there are two questions...
1) what's your private favourite song from nasum? not vital information, but fun to know.
2) why are you called nasum? i looked it up in a latin dictionary and it said it was "nose"...
sorry if the questions have already been posted, but on the one hand i don't speak swedish, and on the other hand i am too lazy to read all 130 questions. oh, sorry for my bad english.
2) The word was a joke between Rickard and I during the time we started the band, and we couldn't help ourselves and used it as our name (without knowing that the band would grow pretty big in 5-10 years...). The original meaning lost it's - well, meaning - quite fast and "nasum" for me always meant "A grindcore band from Sweden".
And don't worry about your English, we all speak and write bad English here... / Anders
when did you write the stuff for the Aggressive hostility Compilation as it's the best Nasum stuff I've ever heard, is their anywhere I can get the lyric's from for your song's on the cd.
thank you for letting me host 3 sonx on goreKing.de,
but you didn't say anything about the Necrony-stuff.
I love the "Pathological Performances" and think it's a real classic. If I could host song 4 "Gynopathological Excav-Eater" and/or song 9 "Effervescing Discharge Of Putrescent Corpulence" that would be awesome!
Thanks a lot
Torge
I, like you, and many people around the world, have been through some difficult times recently. The only thing that never seems to let me down is music. Thank you for keeping NASUM.com there for me.
I have ended the first name with "go" eventhough the name in reality ends with "ko", but I feel it has got more of a g-sound than an English k. The same with "ick" in the last name. Actually, it should be a sound between an i and a y. At least in Swedish.
Record your pronounciation attempts and I will say if you've got it or not.
I don't know if I'm the right person to write a biography for Mieszko. I have written something about how we met in my eulogy and in the liner notes to "Grind Finale". Let's keep it at that right now, OK? / Anders
Anders
a rock metal projekt???
PEACE
HOPE SEE YOU SOON IN FRANCE...a french NASUMER.
Anders
Greetings from southern Finland, damn it's hot! 29,5 degrees Celcius in shade, how's Sweden?
tycker du om gruppen The Locust?
And what distortion did Nasum use for their guitars?
i would like to ask if i could host the sonx of your mp3-section on http://www.goreking.de ? not all just 5-10.
a little video would be cool, too.
and i need some necrony-stuff for the upcoming goregrind-classic-section.
please say yes!
cheers torge
The Brazilian Tribute is Comming!
Waittttttt
;)
i´m looking for a close-up photo of mieszko in a good resolution and quality to use it for a tattoo. i´ve been looking in your galaries, but there was only one pic that seems to fit (galarie 8 pic 2). i want a picture that embodies mieszko´s energy and passion, so i think a live-pic would be best. maybe you can help me out somehow by sending me a link or something else helpful? Exspecially your lyrics mean so much to me, so the tattoo will quote the song "fury": "When the seas calm down but only then will our fury finally sleep" Thank you for so much you don´t know! Kai burningparadise@gmx.de
nasum is an inspiration to all forms of extreme music, thank you for enlightening us, and our music world.
I have a little proposal for you.. It´s comming along a "Brazilian Nasum Tribute" (with only Brazilian Bands). We still have a long way to go...
But First I need your Authorization!? And if there´s any way you could help it (photos, bio, memory of Miesko...), I would really appreciate that.
my contact if you need is: victor@flamesrecords.com
Nasum are one of the main reasons we got together and made some of our own grind. The DIY ethic is important. I will continue to spread the word of the bands great work in Australia.
We wrote a song called 31/12/04 when the death toll reached over 50 000. Then we found out about Mieszko. We are currently recording this and other songs in our home studio.
If you have time can you check out our first song at
http://www.mp3.com.au/BeyondTerrorBeyondGrace
regards
Ben Terror
Could you please put the media section online again?
I'd like to be able to download your backgrounds/wallpapers again... ;)
1)what is Nasum guitar tuning/setup?
2)how can i get the human 2.1 album? is it still around?
2. "Human 2.0" can be bought from me. "Human 2.01" (the Japanese edition) can be bought from Japan. There is no "Human 2.1"! / Anders
First of all, the new Nasum.com design is very Great !!!
Here's my question : On the "Collapsed" compilation released by Ritual Records in Japan, there is a live version of "Shadows" among others.
I tried to buy this very nice item, but it's out of print.
I thought this song was (without doubt, he he...) on Grind Finale, but as I saw the song list, it wasn't the case...
Do you think it 's possible to find this song anywere ? Impossible to find it for download...
Perhaps can you add the song in the Grind Finale song list ??!? he he he...
Greetings
Candy
What does the voice in the beginning of "Stormshield" say exactly? I comprehend part of it, someone having dedicated his life to making money etc... I love the song btw.
Then in the beginning of "Just another hog" someone says something in Swedish. I thought it was something like "Are you blind, deaf or stupid!?" in English. What might that be?
Sample in "Just Another Hog" (from the movie "Tillsammans"): "Fattar du, ta inte det här personligt, men du är så jävla dum i huvudet, du är så jävla lurad!" roughly traslated to "Don't take this personal but you are so fucking stupid, you are so fucking fooled!". / Anders
Plz understand: We just LOOOOOVE raw sound and I fell in love with Miescasdsadko's guitar as soon as I heard it. So please reconsider. thx
p.s spelar du alltid barfota lr? hehe
Japp, jag spelar alltid barfota. / Anders
Keep writing songs, Anders!!!
Can you please translate "Nasum" to english? ;)
...or if you guys would find it appropriate, will you please make In Memory T-shirts for Mieszko? Everyone should be able to show their love.
A: There will be something sooner than you think... / Anders"
i've waited a long time with this because in the last (sad) months i didn't want to waste your time with my "important" questions.
1. can you send copies of the following LPs (vinyl)?
INHALE EXHALE, HUMAN, HELVETE (x2)
2. will there be a new nasum-lp in time? if yes, i would suggest jesper to be the front player and -there's no better grind-voice on earth - the main growler, of course (but i like yours, too, anders)
if the LPs are available you may send them to sven from yellow dog or directly to myself (i can give you the adress per email then)
all my condolence (is this correct english?)
pav/berlin
2. No. / Anders
Firstly, I really like the new look of the NASUM web-site! Great design...
My question is, having seen photos of a DW double bassdrum pedal on your kit, I'd like to know how do you prefer to set your pedal up? Very tight springs? Beater angled close to skin, or far back? I don't expect a really detailed answer, but I have the same pedal, and as a fellow drummer, I'm just interested in how you might set it up as love your drumming on all the Nasum CDs!
Holding my breath for the mighty GRIND FINALE!
Good luck with your computer recording in the fututre... hope u keep making music - you're a great song writer and lyricist!
Please check out my band's web page, if you have time to. :)
Thanks Anders!
Anyway - lately I had to lower the beaters slightly since they begun to lose while playing, but that's the only adjustment I've done for years. / Anders
Mvh // Angelica
At fisrt I want to say sorry! I can't imagine Mieszko died! I always listen your CD and I think about him...He was a God...And he always will be one!
My band and I play Grind and we have composed one song in memory of Mieszko! I would to send you this song when we will record it ok?
And after we will need some help to find a label and like that, play our music fo a long time...
Will stay in my heart...Forever...
Baptiste
P.S.: endless_bleeding@hotmail.com
First off I want to offer my condolences. I am so sorry, for you, for his family and for Nasum. I can't believe I will never get to see Nasum. I had always planned in tracking you guys down one day and getting to see you destroy. You are one of, if not, my favourite bands. I can't wait for Grind Finale!!!
Secondly, I just wanted to know what brand your t-shirts and hoodies are?
Thanks man, stay strong!
T-shirts are usually Printer Heavy and hoodies Fruit of the Loom. / Anders
nice one anders keep up the great work.
please can you give me some tips on how to write songs as i find it very hard.
On "Grind Finale" there's a song whose working title was "The bicycle song" which indicated that it was a song that I came up with biking and then picking out of my head. If I had written down all the "bicycle songs" I've had over the years I would easily have one album worth of material! / Anders
over 'n' out.
/Sven
PS.
Anders
before i heard your music i wasn't really into this type of music until my friend gave me one of your albums (inhale/exhale.)
i would like to know what bands your into at the moment and what bands made you think i wanna start a band.
please become active again even if that means the there are no vocals as NO ONE can replace Mieszko.
your music has grabbed me by the balls
I guess Kiss was the first band for me and ultimately the band that made me want to be a musician. / Anders
Keep on rokkin!!
Thanks, man.
But I guess that's not the answer you'd like. I can't really pick the best one since they are all special to me. For example the first one was born out of love for grindcore and we didn't really have a clue what we were doing resulting in a collection of songs rather than an album. Some song should have been excluded for the sake of quality and length but it seems like "Inhale/Exhale" is everyone's favorite so what the hell...
I guess in the end I would pick "Helvete". That's the best one. / Anders
When I listen through your albums I hear the evolution of your sound (more hooks, melody, technical stuff and influences from other genres etc.) In what direction do you think Nasum would have gone with the next couple of albums if you still existed as a band?
ps. Please continue to write stuff like the article about Sweden rock festival and post it here, I enjoyed reading it!
I don't know how things would have developed on future albums. I hope that things would have taken a little different direction once Jon and Urban started to write more songs for Nasum. / Anders
I've got just a little question...I'm french and I want to make a Nasum's fan-site (of course no official, juste for "fun" ). Am I able?
Sorry for my bad english ;) and Good Bye.
I feel a great void in me musically to know you guys won't be playing, and when I heard his body was identified, it was the closest I have ever come to crying about someone I never knew. If it isn't too much trouble emotionally, or if you guys would find it appropriate, will you please make In Memory T-shirts for Mieszko? Everyone should be able to show their love.
and tell something.
Who's in the Maktmissbrukare's cover?
Re: the guys on the "Maktmissbrukare" cover... I have no idea! If I find the original picture one day I might learn it from the caption. They should be considered "models" that just happened to fit the "Maktmissbrukare" theme. In hindsight we should probably done the old punk thing with a black tape over the eyes... / Anders
this might have been answered two posts below but since I don't speak Swedish, I just wanted to know what's gonna happen with Soundlab?
Thanks and keep your head up.
Do you like Driller Killer?
Fortsätter du mangla i nått annat band ?
LONG LIVE NASUM!!!!
I was just wondering if there's any chance in the future of printing English translations of the Q&A's that are printed in Swedish. I noticed one of them mentions Genocide Superstars, and that's one thing I've been wondering about, whether or not GSS will continue.
Anyway, my question is:
Will it contain the Japan only tracks of the albums as well? In your post it says "non-album tracks", so probably not...?
Good luck in the future! I hope you soon found a new band!
Take care!
Nasum! - vi älskar er!
Also, I received an email from Mieszko 1 week to the day before the Tsunami which has been of great help to my writing, I actually recently packed my shit and moved from Australia to the US and formed a grind band, his words have been very helpful! Good luck with whatever you do in future Anders.
Och sen till frågorna;
Anders
And - ehum - the title is "Industrislaven", nothing else! :) / Anders
Are you planning to release the vinyls thru Relapse? I've got "Industrial" on vinyl and find ordering Nasum on Relapse US quite convenient (you know, no international shipping).
I was thinking, after knowing Mieszko thru the writing, only a tsunami could take out such vibrance. His death, in such a way, has an element of honor to it. It took the powers of the physical world to extinguinsh that life.
Just a thought, and some props on "Inhale/Exhale".
Oh yeah, please don't post this note. These words are for you, man.
Just for the record: This Q and A function should only be used with the intention to get your question answered on the site. If you want a private conversation just write an email! / Anders
If others out their read this, please share you ideas about this idea, for a tribute comp. Would like to hear other suggestions as well?
"What better way too pay tribute to the guy?" Well, I would say that you should listen to and buy the stuff he wrote and recorded for Nasum and other bands (as a producer). That's Mieszko's legacy. / Anders
Miezko... Tänker på dig. Du _är_ en hjälte.
It's sad that Nasum are no more and I and many, many other fan's will miss the music you created,
I really hope you can get back on your feet in the music world and set your talent's free once again ,I know i for one will be waiting.
RIP Mieszko
Best of luck for what the future bring's for you Ander's.
I'm a little bit sad about the end of Nasum, but I can understand your decision. Thank you for your explanation, Anders.
I think the music you've created sends the power, the spirit and the energy, all this, what, so I think, music stands for.
I hope I'll read your names in booklets again.
I wish the girlfriend of Mieszko the best recovery, and all friends and family the strength to carry on.
Sincerely
Eric
PS: Just one question: One of my favourite song on "Shift" is "Hets". Unfortunately I can't speak Swedish, but I'm curious what's meant by this song.
So, if you have any time, would you translate this into English?
Please excuse my English.
"Hets" is about a quite huge problem in society today, how people are consumed by stress and demands and work until they get exhaused or burned out. It's actually one of my better lyrics - it discusses a big problem and it got a good flow in it.
I guess one way to translate the title is "Frenzy". Actually I named the song since it felt kind of stressy, and then I developed the lyrics keeping the working title.

Anders
Ni va ju asgrymma! Snälla fortsätt
It's hard to explain, but there's a certain feeling in my heart when I listen to your music. That flame stays lit as long as I endure. I hope it means something to you, that you have touched people.
Sometimes it feels like I've shed my share of blood, sweat and tears, but I think there's still much to endure for. I wish you strength to carry on.
I remain yours faithfully,
Tuomas
Just wanted to let you know - I was at the St. Louis, MO show when you came and played the Creepy Crawl on the Contamination 3.0 tour back in 99'. I had never heard of Nasum before and I was an instant convert that night. Mieszko made mention it was your first run through the states. I can't thank you enough for that show...I'll never forget it. So much energy! You guys are and will forever be killer in my book. Cheers! R.I.P Mieszko.
The first (and unfortunately only) US tour was something special for us as well, so thanks for showing up! / Anders
I'm your band vvvery like. My friends likessss your band.
We are south korea grindcore band 'HELL THIS TIME'
Many people are waiting for your band
I very want you and your family to come to South Korea.
It is grory if it performs together with you
come on!!!!!!
nasum is forever!!!!!
The lyrics can also be applied on anyone that has to struggle to improve. I remember Mieszko once said that it could even be about Napalm Death, so it's just a matter of how you interper it.
Re: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Scar": I have no personal experience of domestic violence - thank you very much - and the lyrics came together by accident more or less.
I remember that it started with the first lines of chorus (then: "Count the scars in MY eyes") and were supposed to be about being hurt in a more psychic way, but one thing led to another and the subject of domestic violence came up, something that I previously only had touched upon in the lyrics to "Dead Mirror" (look for it here).
It's just a subject that feel is very disturbing and terrible. / Anders
I just wonder if there are any grindcore band in your style or something, I dont like Goregrind and such bands as Mortician, Fuck IM DEAD, Anal Cunt , Anal Blast etc.
So I wonder if there are a band in your grind-style(?), who has political lyrics, not about Old men raping children...
I´m searching for somthing more like you guys...
I love your music, your grindcore is the best, no one will ever beat you.
And all my respect to Miezsko and friends.
Terrible! R.I.P
Thank you // Andrzej
Good luck discovering new grind! / Anders
Grind Your Mind!
MVH ///Fredrik
My love and best wishes go out to his girlfriend, his parents and of course the rest of the band. While I haven't known Mieszko nearly as long as you guys, I feel in some way connected to him.
I will never forget and I will miss him.
Sincerely,
Sam Schrader
I really engulf all the texts here since I know Nasum and I still do so, I also love what anyone of you wrote, the thing is I never see Nasum live just listening to the records and I guess is some sort of mental savaging when I start reading the sad things on this site, anything. . .
Start and stop crying, without knowing you in real life, but I think it's something like remembering again e.g. funerals I visited all of them were so damn hard.
Guess I'm talking too much sometimes, but I hope you know what I mean.
Wish you all the best,
Oliver
I've neither met met you nor seen Nasum perform. The words, however, are connective. As is the metal.
Anders
He was a metal star!!
All the best from Holland,
Jelmer, Marijn & Tjan.
i have a long show called "Live in Hultsfred 2003" and i think that it could be a really good dvd
what do you think about it ??¿?
thanks !!!!
cheers!!!!
Do you have any plans for the future? Will there still be "Nasum"?.
And when will there be a grind festival or something like it?.
Love you Guys!
"Grind Your Mind" // Fredrik
2. How long do we have to wait for Grand Finale(Örebro,Sweden)?
3. Will you make any last public performance, any Goodbyes shows, anything? It would be really cool to have a last show in Örebro. Just a dream.
I wish the members and relatives of Nasum good luck in their future lives.
Miezko in our heart.
2. The tentative release time is September/October, but right now I can't give any exact date.
3. No, I'm sorry but we can't do any shows. / Anders
My question: Have you also concidered to release a DVD? It would be so great to see the spirit from Nasum and Mieszko again at home.
Well, I'm afraid that there isn't enough material (at least in a decent quality) to collect on a DVD that will make it worth the money. I considered making a DVD to include in the "Grind Finale" set, but it was enough work to compile the music for the set.
I'm not ruling out a possible video document of some kind, but I rather think it's going to be something that the fans can download and burn themeselves than a pro printed DVD. We'll see. We have time to think about it. / Anders
