About reissues

Today I got a package from Germany with a brand new Necrony CD. Apparently Poserslaughter found out that a Brazilian label was planing a bootleg release of all of Necrony stuff so they collected both CD's, the 7" and some demosongs on one 90 minutes (!) CD. The stuff is remastered and sounds pretty good.

The sad thing is that I wasn't involved in this release at all. I wasn't asked if it was a good idea or even told that it would be released, until I got a message from Poserslaughter this past Tuesday about my mailing address. In the mail I got the impression that it was just another repress of the "Pathological Performances" CD, which would have been cool.

I've always had a strong opinion about NOT collecting the old Necrony material on CD since I don't think the material is good enough, especially not compared to Nasum. I have considered making all of it available on the Internet.

But now this "ultimate" collection is out and in my opinion is not as "ultimate" as it claims to be. Not only does it use unauthorized material (the demosong and the 7" actually) but the presentation is not what one should expect from such a collection. If I had been informed about this release earlier, I could have compiled material for a massive booklet with graphics, linernotes and even shared some unreleased tracks and versions, making it an ULTIMATE and complete release (it's about 10 songs short of being complete).

Now we have only a collection, plain and simple. Too bad, it could have been made better.

The same thing more or less happened with the reissue of "Industrislaven" last year. I met Sven from Yellow Dog at Fuck The Commerce and he told me that he wanted to a 7" of the out of print MCD. I thought it sounded like a cool idea but suggested either a double 7" or a 12" and that we should talk more about it later.

Then I got a mail from Sven asking about the cover and so forth and I hadn't yet spoken to Mieszko about the reissue and when I did he said that we shouldn't do it since we were about to finish the collection (now ”Grind Finale”). I thought that Mieszko eventually would give in to the idea given some time to digest the idea. In the meantime Sven sent more and more emails which I didn't answer since I didn't have an answer.

One would think that Sven at this point should have guessed that something was wrong. But no, a while later the 12" was finished and it was of course a product that wasn't to our satisfaction. The original release got a fucked up cover, a fucked up tracklist since two songs were put together and the hidden bonus track got an own id and it didn't have any lyrics. The 12" could have been a way to repair all this, but no. Just enlarged front and back cover and no lyrics.

What is wrong with these people? Why can't they ask or read the signs?

Now, I don't care about this much anymore - done is done and I guess the people involved in everything has heard my opinions more than once. I guess that concerning the Necrony release I could probably put together a nice PDF with all the lyrics, photos and such and upload the remaining rare tracks on the Internet, but I am not up to it right now. The collection remains a good alternative for those who are interested in Necrony and never had the chance to get the original releases. Fuck, it's the only alternative.

I got pretty fired up by all this, but trust me - be glad that I didn't bring up the Necrony picture 10" that was released a couple of years ago... Goddamnit!

Going through the old shit

I've been working hard collecting material (photos, poster, flyers etc) for the "Grind Finale" layout. I've been up at the attic digging though my many boxes of old shit (and I can tell you: the day I decide to do a Necrony website I will have TOO MUCH material!), and found some funny stuff, like this discarded 7" EP artwork from 1993:

http://nasum.com/blog/upload/nicenoise.jpg

I think I imagined that we would get lots of 7" EP offers after the first recording, so I did this suggestion for a cover. I think the picture came from a Mad magazine, but I added the "Nice noise!" thing. Hehe, it's quite funny!

I will bring you news about "Grind Finale" soon. Maybe next week, maybe later, but there will be something soon. I promise you that!

Another evening on eBay

I am not shopping this time! I just happened to go to the German eBay site to check something out and actually found quite a few rare and rareish Nasum releases.

Here we go:
Nasum/Agatochles split 7" EP
Nasum/Psycho split 7" EP
Nasum/Warhate split 7" EP
Nasum/Abstain split 7" EP
Regressive Hostilty comp CD with 16 exclusive Nasum tracks

Now, I don't know if the sellers sell outside Germany because I can't understand German, but if you're interested in any of these items you should contact the sellers for details.
